Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Very nice property - cute and secluded so it feels like you have your own cottage. Beautiful yard and surroundings. Jean is very accommodating and provides nice amenities. Highly recommend.

United StatesJean had filled the sparkling clean cottage with fresh flowers, island macadamian cookies and cold bottles of water to take with us as we ventured out during the day. She also provided a fresh bag of coffee. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was great. The shower might be small for a large person but was fine for my husband and me. There is a small table on the porch where we had our morning coffee while admiring the absolutely gorgeous flowers and trees that fill the garden in front of the cottage. The cottage is not air conditioned and could be warm when returning from a day's exploring but Hilo breezes cooled it off nicely by the time we were ready for bed. The location is a bit of a drive to a good restaurant but otherwise it is a good base location for heading up the rainbow-filled east coast, down to Volcanes National Park, or even up to Waimea.

United StatesNobody's fault! Because you cannot control wildlife, but it should be warned that the coqui frogs and the roosters are very loud at night and at dawn, respectively. There are earplugs in the bathroom closet for this if it's a problem. After a night or two the frogs become white noise, but the roosters, omg, a nuisance that everyone has to put up with, locals included. I would still stay here any time, it was delightful, but the warning is good to have. It's a tropical island, so be extra fastidious about cleaning food and dishes and taking out the garbage to avoid attracting bugs. There is no AC, but you don't need it if you keep the windows open for a nice cross breeze.
Absolutely beautiful little space, gorgeous garden, cute set up. There were snacks set out for us, including coffee, the little kitchenette was super equipped for any basic cooking. I look forward to visiting again! It was quite secluded, and lovely to just sit on the porch having a cup of coffee in the morning. The bathroom is equipped with a lot of oft-forgotten bits, hydrogen peroxide, shampoo/conditioner, earplugs, even a little fan if the humidity is too much. It's a small space but well put together and thought-out!

United StatesThe shower unit is too small, but it still works well.
This is a great little house with everything so nicely put together. It offers so much what a long term vacation housing should be. What's most impressive part of this house is its beautiful garden! We enjoyed so much of having breakfast in the porch; one morning having sun light coming through the tropical garden plants, while another morning being shielded from light rain.

United StatesNo A/C was fine but would be rough during very hot months. Also, I didn’t mind the coqui frogs but those could be too noisy for some people.
It was very conveniently located to attractions I visited without being in the center of them. It was a very quiet neighborhood and felt very private. Jean’s attention to detail and thoughtful touches made the experience special.

A delightful little cottage that makes one feel like you are in a tropical jungle! So many gorgeous tropical plants, the koi pond, ferns, et al. Clean, tidy and just lovely! The cottage has everything you need incl a small kitchen area and living room. The beds is very comfy. The ceiling fans cool the place well. Our Host was wonderful - she had placed beautiful fresh flowers in our room along with a selection of lovely tasty tidbits, coconut water, bottled water and Hawaiian coffee. So very welcoming! This place is only a ~10min drive to Hilo and very close to the highways to get your destinations such as the botanical garden, the volcano, et al. Highly recommended

CanadaIt was up the hill away from town and a little hard to find. It is definitely only for two. There are fans and it was very comfortable but everyone should know that it is not air conditioned. We loved the open air feel but on a very hot day, it might not be for everyone.
It was so private and comfy. The front was a beautiful lush garden. Jean was very friendly and helpful. The cottage was very well stocked. The birds were amazing and the frogs were a good laugh.

BelgiumAs we are on vacation we prefer not to do dishes, if there was some more space in the cottage a (small) dishwasher would be great. A pool would also be great but that would also be difficult to realise and make it more expensive. Well you can't have all, we were very happy with all there was and it was not hard to made our stay as comfortable as can be.
This place is a little paradise in paradise,... After many years (since 1995) of traveling all 50 states of the USA and other places in the world, this place was a huge surprise. Think this must be the cleanest lodging we have ever been in! It's so much fun not to be worried about cleaning before we touch something or using towels, bedding, etc... So thankful for that, we could just relax and enjoy the cottage and surroundings! With almost everything you need in the cottage to be comfortable! The little garden in front of the lanaï is stunning!! The frogs are noisy, loud but not really disturbing, kinda something that fits in.... When you close the windows it will barely bother when you go to sleep. We can only hope to return once again to Hawaii in the future and come back to this superclean and comfortable cottage! With special thanks to Jean for the help and communication, the hospitallity and the provided, lovely amenities (coffee, chocolates, drinks, flowers, ...) !

We stayed here last year for a few days and liked it so much we booked for a week this year. Very comfortable to return to in the evenings. We could fix our breakfast or could heat up something simple in the eveningif we wanted to. This is a small cottage in a beautiful garden. The little peepers were loud at night but We like that. There are earplugs if you don’t like it. Jean was very welcoming and pleasant to talk to. Would definitely stay here again
