How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Unit was very old and cheap. Some light switches didn't work, AC didn't work well, water had a terrible smell. Towels in guest bathroom need to be upgraded (too small and old) and more than one towel for the week.
Karen, I am quite taken aback by your review of our condo. As much as I respect a guest’s right to submit a review of their stay at our unit, I am disappointed at the unfair and, frankly, dishonest nature of your negative comments. I am always grateful when guests leave constructive feedback and suggestions as to how certain things can be improved. But since our condo's average review score is 9 or higher (based on 29 reviews) and paired with mostly very positive comments, I feel I need to address your comments for future readers and potential guests. Aside from your comments about the towels in the guest bathroom (which I will address promptly), it seems you have formed a very negative impression of our condo. I would like to clarify that it is neither “old nor cheap”. Although our club is over 40 years old, it is meticulously maintained. Our unit was refurbished three years ago with new furniture and brand-new, stainless-steel appliances. Our bathrooms may not have recently been updated, but they are clean and functional. The decoration style of the apartment may not be to your liking, but I assure you, it is neither “cheap nor old”. It is most unfair and disrespectful to paint a negative impression of our condo with one broad stroke. Furthermore, we have had no issues with the water having a “terrible smell” (no one has ever mentioned this) and although some of the light switches are not connected to any lights of lamps, the ones that are connected work just fine. You admitted to me during your stay that you had been tampering with the AC thermostat. When I asked you to reset the system you confirmed that it started up back again. I even had someone come up to the apartment to check the system and they reported that it was cooling just fine. Lastly, I cannot understand your seemingly random numerical ratings such as the low 5 score for staff. From the moment you booked your reservation and throughout your stay, I have promptly and clearly responded to your every query. You, on the other hand, not once had the courtesy of acknowledging my responses with a simple “thank you”.

Verified reviewThis was a wonderful condo for our family vacation. The host was one of the most responsive and helpful hosts I’ve ever worked with. The space had several touches of hospitality and felt more like a home than a money-making rental home. The beach toys, beach wagon, beach chairs, and towels made our time at the beach extra enjoyable. The king size bed was very comfortable; we all slept great. The porch was large with a pretty view for sunsets. It is a long walk to the gulf (probably 15 minutes), but it was really nice to be able to walk and not have to load up a car and find parking to go to the beach.
The pool wasn’t very kid friendly. They have a long list of rules (which were enforced), including no jumping into the pool, no diving, no food/snacks on the pool deck, and no pool balls thrown in the water. This is not a reflection of the wonderful host or the property itself, but it felt more like a retirement community pool than a family friendly space. That being said, many people using the pool were very kind to our kids, but our kids were disappointed to not be able to jump in and out of the pool and we felt like we needed to keep their noise and splashing to a minimum when the pool was fuller with older people. We also experienced an electrical outage for the better part of one day as work was being done to the building. Our host was incredibly courteous in communicating this information as they received it but it was a burden to be without the electricity for a day. I imagine this doesn’t happen too often but was a bummer for our trip.

Verified reviewThis property is wonderful and Jan was a really great, attentive host. The space was perfect for our family and had everything we could ever need & more. There were plenty of things for the beach, the kitchen was well stocked, and the home overall felt very home-y vs a rental property. When we arrived, the apartment was sparkling clean, and I really loved that the host left cleaning supplies for use while there, it helped us from having to buy anything to keep countertops clean/sand out of the apartment. We loved the proximity to the private beach and the availability to use a beach wagon provided to transport all our beach things to/from. The community makes it really easy to clean off yourself & your items coming back from the beach with plentiful availability of showers. The pool in the center of the complex is really clean and well-maintained, as well as, the rest of the property.
I have nothing negative to say about the apartment or the experience with our host! There are a few things that I think future renters may find helpful: the building/complex that the apartment is in is older - just to manage expectations. The property is meticulously maintained, but definitely a bit dated. The only other piece of information that's helpful is the awareness of beach proximity - while it's right on the beach, it's quite a walk to get to the water line, but you can always leave the property and go to other beaches that aren't as deep. Last - bring bug spray!

Verified reviewI liked the apartment, the owner was very responsive on WhatsApp, and there was everything in the apartment we needed, from small coffee European mugs to beach cart, beach chairs, kid boards, chess board, even bandages, etc...
The mattresses were still good but not as comfy as my home. I am sure the owner will take care of that if there is more than one complaint.
