Our room was in the basement so not much natural light. Room tended to be warm and stuffy. We used the fan provided and opened the one window (which opened outward at ground level and at the top of a set of stairs from the basement).

Great location for us. Nice front porch. Access to laundry was a plus. Charming older house. Breakfast was simple and nice to have available. Nice neighborhood.

Our room was small with a matress on the floor for the third person. After some serious camping, we still slept great.

If you like the old school guesthouse style with the vibe and the easygoing, this place still has that pre internet era character.

Peaceful place in a lovely neighborhood, with lots of cafes and food places nearby. I was visiting my son in college and this was the perfect place to stay!

The parking is a little challenging because it is a popular area with many restaurants. Best to show up before or after dinner time. The bathroom for our stay was down the hall which was a little awkward, but it is an historic house so I get it. We stayed in the queen room upstairs.

This is a beautiful guesthouse with the best continental breakfast offerings of any I have seen. The kitchen is very homey and there are many nice places to have a meal within walking distance. Natalie was gracious and friendly and responded quickly to any concerns we had. For being in such an busy setting it was very quiet and it was a very quick ride to the airport in the morning.

The heat was a bit high in the place.

It was quiet, things were where they should be, easy to find and the instructions very clear and told the story of how the place was.

The property was amazing. So well decorated in vintage style. It was sunny and bright and super clean. I had a room in the basement that was toasty warm. Despite the house being on a busy street, I heard no street noise at all! It was super quiet the whole week that I stayed there. There were plenty of snacks available and a nice selection of breakfast pastries, bagels and muffins. I only saw the staff for an hour or two each day. They were super friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again!

The laundry room provides strongly scented detergents like Tide Original so doing laundry was out of the question. I struggled with the smell and the resulting teary eyes and coughing as we were so close to it.

Quaint-looking, older, deceptively large house. Felt like I was going to my grandmother's (in a good way). Our room was in the basement and at first glance looked rather ordinary. In fact, it had everything we needed, the bed was comfortable, and absorbed our luggage and belongings well. Laundry was available. The roomy kitchen was at the top of the stairs (so convenient to make a cup of tea). The provided continental breakfast was ample and provided good choice. I loved the little alcoves off the kitchen. Thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay and always felt like I was coming home.

    Nothing!

The guesthouse was very homely and cosy . I loved my bedroom in the upper floor. Everything was absolutely spotless and it was wonderful to have the use of the ( equally spotless) kitchen . Being able to have a breakfast on the porch or in one of the little eating areas , was a beautiful start to the day. I did not meet any of the staff but my questions about transport were answered very speedily. I recommend the guesthouse highly.

Clean and comfortable basement room, parking is a challenge
    • Leisure trip
    • Solo traveler
    • Budget Double Room
    • Stayed 1 night

My room was a basement room with very low ceilings. It reeked of some heavily scented cleaning product when I first got there, possibly from the laundry area right outside my door. Opening the small window helped, and the odor did fade after a while. The single door lock felt insufficient. The "free public parking available at a location nearby" is street parking and difficult to find.

The room and bathroom were clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was very quiet. Communication from the host was excellent. Breakfast was as described, though the half-and-half was "fat free" (what?) and I had to hunt for salt and pepper. I appreciated the hard boiled eggs for protein. There are restaurants, bars, and shops in both directions, easy to walk to. I had the best old fashioned I've ever had at the Automatic bar down the street. I need to go leave them a review too...

Parking. No parking near the place. Had to park between 2 and 4 blocks away. Seems to be a Portland thing...

The location was walking distance to many interesting resturaunts and places of business. The house is a neat old place. The breakfast offerings were generous.

This place and its sister property are the only place I will stay in Portland. The rooms are fabulous -- especially appreciate the old-fashioned claw foot tubs -- and the facilities are cozy, comfortable, and well appointed. Having access to a well-stocked kitchen is such a treat after travel. And the staff are sweethearts.
