How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewLocation is excellent. Good home cooked breakfast. Pleasantly surprised by the outdoor pool.
Maybe a few more choices for breakfast. Not crazy about bathroom being across the hall. WiFi was not cooperating
We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with breakfast choices. We prepare a specific dish every morning as we do not have sufficient kitchen space to offer a menu for breakfast. We did offer to move you to a room with an ensuite bathroom which your partner wanted to do but you declined our offer. Both of these features of our Inn were spelled out in an email sent to you after you made your reservation. Unfortunately we have no control over wifi as we are in a remote location and the extreme number of visitors in the Valley places demands on town infrastructure that exceeds capacity. We installed a mesh system several years ago at significant expense but it still relies on bandwidth in the area. We are glad that you enjoyed our pool and the high standards of cleanliness that we maintain.

Our welcome and the hospitality was warm and we felt like part of the family. Our quaint room was clean and comfortable, with all we needed for the stay. Room was a bit cramped. Couldn't open windows because noisy compressor was just outside.
We feel that this is a very unfair review. You selected the room when other larger rooms were available. Our room descriptions clearly indicate the size and there are photos showing the room. I'm not sure what we are supposed to do about the a/c compressor.If we turn it off other guests complain about the rooms being too warm. Furthermore at no point during your stay did you bring any of these matters to our attention. Blindsiding us with a review that hurts our reputation when we were not given a chance to rectify the situation is totally unfair. We would have moved you to a different room had you approached us with your issues.

Uncomfortable hard beds, doors couldn’t shut and lock unless you used extreme force. No fireplaces on which was confusing considering it was cold outside. Activity areas were uninteresting. Breakfast was terrible, you couldn’t even choose what you wanted to eat and the quality of the food was poor.
We are sorry you were disappointed in your stay. This is a Bed and Breakfast and not a traditional hotel or restaurant. We ask everyone to check out our website to make sure this 250 year old home meets your expectations. We have many board games, puzzles, books, and movies for your enjoyment in two of our entertainment rooms as well as a hot tub. Our hearty New England breakfasts are well enjoyed by many! Yes, we only offer one option for breakfast and cannot make pancakes due to the griddle/kitchen space/staff (only my husband and I work here) and we feed many people at one time. Instead we offer French Toast. You only joined us for Breakfast one morning which offered croissant egg/cheese sandwich with ham and vegetables. We also had a variety of pastries, yogurt, homemade granola, juices, and fruit at our buffet table. Two of the three beds you used were brand new with new foam toppers. Doug and I always strive to make sure everyone enjoys their stay. We are very sorry that was not a possibility in your situation.

No real complaints. We had our own exit on the first floor, which was very nice. The room above us was occupied and we could hear them moving around, but no conversation. You may want to bring earplugs if you are not as lucky to get quiet neighbors.

Verified reviewThe hosts Doug & Donna were very welcoming! The Inn is very quiet in the forest but a 5 mins drive into North Conway main st. with restaurants & shops. There are lots of beautiful places to visit from the Inn. It’s a quaint place to be for a few nights.
There wasn’t anything particular that we didn’t like!

The steps were very steep going up to our room, which was difficult to maneuver at our age.
