Thanks for choosing Caravan Hostel for your past stay! We appreciate you staying with us and hope you had a great overall trip to DC. When it comes to accessing your pin code and guest portal, you must complete your guest verification process first in order to access your pin code. Right after you book, you are sent this link via SMS or email. Guests are sent several reminders from the time they book up until the day of check in to complete this process as it is required to check in with us. Once competed, you are rerouted to your guest portal which contains all of your important stay information. It is important all guests have their guest portal readily available by the time they arrive so they can see their pin code to enter -- we send off a link the day of check in so you have it readily available as well. During your stay, you should keep your portal readily available or take a screenshot so you can easily remember your pin and room information. If someone cannot access their pin code, we are staffed at the desk and have a doorbell to utilize to alert the staff. There is also an emergency phone number and the WiFi information to use if needed. We are sorry if your experience differed from the procedures we have in place and we hope this helped clarify the processes in place! We recommend the garage close by for convenience of being just a block away, but we’re always more than willing to help guests explore other options that might work better for them. Hey there! So glad to hear you enjoyed the hostel and felt it was a great base for exploring DC, especially as a backpacker! We love being in the heart of things, close to the food, fun, and must-see sights. You brought up some great ideas too! Just a heads-up that we do have hangers at the front desk (anytime you need ‘em), and our kitchen is stocked with all the basics like spatulas — we’ll work on making those easier to find. Since we keep rates low for travelers, we can’t offer shared spices or condiments, but guests are welcome to bring their own or grab them from the nearby stores. Also, we love your idea about improving the event board. Our front desk team is always up for helping guests discover cool happenings in DC, and we’ll definitely review what’s currently posted.
