How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The sofas in the living room area are dirty. I have to bring my own king size sheet from home to sit on it. Also, there are baby roaches in the kitchen. I seen them every time I stay there. I think this will be my last trip to this hotel.

Verified reviewIt’s beautiful on the outside but as soon u get checked in the nightmare begins from walking down the halls on the 3 floor smelled we got to our rooms and they smelled really bad and to mention the had the windows fully open where there was no screens and as we looked around there was dead roaches everywhere and in the fridge
The rooms was disgusting and had roaches and things hardly worked and one of our rooms the toilet had to be flushed manually

The air conditioner did not work 1st day in 2 rooms after moving to the second and no other rooms available, we had to sleep with the window open listening to the freeway all night. Needless to say, we did not sleep. furniture has stains and torn fabric, people living in the parking lot motorhomes.. stains on the carpet room and hotel and rooms has a bad oder. No hot water on 1st day. torn screen for the window drapes. not attached pillows is like a big hard ball unusable. No light bulb in lamp. No coffee pot asked the front desk and they said none available because people take them and I hat they were waiting for order to come in.. stucco in bath room was unfinished. The purpose of a hotel is to accommodate a temporary comfortable living space, for travelers while vacationing or for special occasions. NEEDLES TO SAY THIS WAS NOT A PLEASANT STAY.WOULD NOT RECOMMEND OR EVER COMING BACK. I DESERVE A FULL REFUND! NOT ACCEPTABLE.

The staff was not helpful, the facilities were broken down (ice machine, washing machines, dryers, drapes were all broken). They advertise zen “hot breakfast” but there is none. They don’t have basics like soap, shampoo, conditioner or replacement towels. Not all the lights worked either.

Verified reviewIt was close to my home. It was a staycation for my wife and I. We are both physically disabled. If we needed anything we may have forgot, we could go home to get it.
This hotel was the previously the Hyatt House. Which was a high end hotel accommodations for business travel. I am a local. I've been in this region of Southern California for nearly 40 years. This was a staycation for my wife and I. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and birthdays. We thought because of the previous history of the hotel it be a nice facility. I walked around the grounds of the facility. There was dog feces all around the property. The pool and spa abscent of water, not working. The breakfast room had old furniture stored in the area. The room had a kitchenette. I could not use the dishware and pots and pans to cook because they were dirty. The room furniture had rips in it. There was some brown goot on the wall. There was duck tape hanging from the ceiling. There was no breakfast or continental breakfast. The property owners parked their car and truck in the ADA parking spaces (they didn't have a disability placard). Guest at the hotel that require ADA parking spaces due to their disability could not use the parking space. The back of the facility with trash and various items from the hotel. There was trash around the grounds. Carlsbad is one of the wealthiest areas in San Diego County. It is the location for Lego Land, The Flower Fields, The GEM Institute. It a short distance to Sea World, The San Diego Zoo, The Safari Park, Balboa Park etc.... Due to our physical disabilities, I requested through booking.com a ground level room. I received an email stating my request was granted. However, when I checked into the hotel, the representative stated that they never received the request.

The hallways smelled like cigarettes and burnt food the elevators where slow and small asf. The rooms looked clean but if you looked closely you could tell it was nasty there were dead roaches and we found bed bugs on our bed. The couch was chewed up by a dog or something. When I told the desk clerk about the bed bugs they didn’t flitch as if they knew they where invested anyways over all bad experience wouldn’t recommend this to anyone

Verified reviewcockroaches in the room, staff was confused and disorganized, no one answers the phone here, and when i left a bag in my room and came to get it from lost and found they said they didn’t have it even though im 100% positive it was left on the bathroom counter. Manager said he would call me after speaking to the head housekeeper and never called. Photo shows how many times i attempted to call the hotel with no one answering the phones.

First room we were given (unit 330) seemed to ether had been cleaned poorly or not at all. There was hairs all over the shower walls and tub. My son found an eye lash on top of one of the night stands. There was a must smell to this unit. Told the front desk about the issues at hand and was given room 108 and this room was a lot cleaner but it smells like wet dog, dog urine and some sort or oderizer. Smell Wasn’t so strong when we came into the room since the window was open and door was propped open. We closed everything for security but the smell got worse as the night was going by. Also the security latch on the door is broken. The screws are stripped off
