Many things are broken, and there appear to be temporary fixes are on a lot of things: a stain on the couch in my room, the sliding door has corroded parts, lots of chips on furniture, and the gym has broken equipment. Some updates could go a long way. I wasn't happy to see "kitchen gratuity" on all my food bills, which takes away from the tipping opportunity that I enjoy. Perhaps paying the kitchen staff adequate wages and not putting that on the customer to offset. Would have appreciated awareness about events going on prior to my stay. The Laua would have been a great event to attend, but sold out days before I arrived.

The staff were excellent, providing great service, being friendly, and transparent about delays due to a lack of staffing, which I believe is important. The staff was very accommodating. Everyone was very helpful! The grounds were beautiful and well-maintained. It was close to the beach, and I appreciated having the cafe for coffee and snacks. The restaurant offers a great variety of food, hats off to the chef. There are many places to eat around the resort, and it has a great walking path around the beach. Have several animals on-site, great experience for kids. I would not recommend the "Pacific Beach: view, it really is of the parking lot and off to the left..and no sun, I would recommend the Mission Bay view with the sunny side.

The activities would be better identified, took me a while to find the Ula dance class (there was no sign). The number of towels to the number of room occupants was also challenging, we requested for extra ones since we were 4 people and only 3 towels were replaced daily.

The stairs to get to parking hard to get things up and down from the rooms and the elevators kept needed to be worked on in the tower

Loved that it was right across the street from the beach, plus being right on bay was nice. They had fun activities for my kids they loved doing it each day and the lady's were super nice. The hula dance lessons were fun addition for whole family also!

Relatively minor, slide door on room to balcony was very stiff, wife couldn’t open it. Cleaners didn’t take glasses (from bar night before) or replace dirty glasses from room. Some staff were uninterested in serving, one was quite rude, although the guy in the front desk was absolutely excellent (wish I could remember his name).

We’re upgraded to a room with view over bay which was stunning, great room, big lounge, separate bedroom, 2 massive TV’s. Hotel entrance stunning water features and carp.

Some rooms did not have enough storage in the bathroom. Too much noise from other rooms (no noise cancellation), outside & inside seating of restaurant had different menus but we were not told about this in advance.

The bay. I thought I had booked a beach vacation. We couldn’t go in the algae-filled bay, the sand was filled with slivered sea shells so couldn’t walk barefoot on it or sit bare-skinned on it. The sand castles toys were dirty and deeply disappointing. I expected there to be more than one pool for a resort that size. The parking was incredibly expensive and very difficult to even find a space to fit our small SUV. The town was NOT family friendly. Too far to be within walking distance and absolutely nowhere to park the car! All filled with bars, tattoo shops, and beach rentals. Loud and highly trafficated.

I liked the staff. Front desk and concierge were wonderful! I liked the koi pond and the views from our room. My kids loved the mid-day complimentary refreshments.

First night was in the tower on the 5th floor. As soon as I was at the elevator I noticed it looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. The opening to the 5th floor was very worn and the room was aged with water damage.

I think some aspects of the room decor are looking a little dated now, but it was very clean and well provisioned.

I've stayed here before and it is such a great location. Right on Mission Bay but very close to the ocean as well, with lots of buzzy bars, restaurants and cafes in close walking distance. Loved meeting the hotel's resident cat this time too!
