How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewRooms are large, uncluttered & clean. There is a large window with a great view of the ocean. Really like that the window can be opened for fresh air. Bed was a little hard, but comfortable overall. Nice bathroom amenities. This was our 4th time staying here & will return again. Best beach access!
Furniture is pretty worn. No maid service during our 4 night stay.

Air conditioning didn’t work properly. Chairs were duct taped covering ripping. Drawers were sticking and hard to open. Room was clean but felt run down. Room was priced at triple the normal rate because of the kite festival.

Verified reviewWe had an "ocean" view room, but the truth is from the distance from the ocean you can not see the ocean, but you have a beautiful view of the dunes, and during the kite festival which is why were were there you could see down the main bolstad street, see all the pedestrians and traffic and way off in the distance the kites flying. It's a very convenient location to the beach access for the kite festival and local restaurants, bars, shops.
My stay was initially very disappointing, especially for a room costing nearly $400 a night. I expected five-star service but received two- to three-star at best. The main issues were a lack of communication and poor service on the first day. Although we arrived early, our room was still not ready by the promised 4:00 PM check-in time. We were repeatedly told the room would be ready shortly, so we would go away for a time frame of 10-15 minutes (multiple times). Or stand around, but it wasn't available until 6:00 PM. We waited a good two hours over the official check-in time, causing me to be late for an important event. Upon finally getting into the room, the floors were still soaking wet from being mopped, and so I used a towel to dry the floors, and the towel was extremely filthy - like very, very dirty. The next day, our room was not cleaned at all while we were away. I had to specifically request that it be cleaned and for fresh towels the following morning. The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and apologetic, but did not proactively offer any compensation. After multiple requests, we were offered a free night's stay to be used within the year. I only live a couple of hours away and was planning a trip, so this allows me to try them again. I hope the next visit is a better experience.
Again we apologize for your inconvenience, however you were told that you would be given a gift certificate the morning of your departure which you did receive. We are very short staffed and we are all doing our very best here. Yes all rooms have a card in their room stating that if you would like service to call the front desk before 11am the day you would like it. Again we are understaffed and we are doing our best. Verified reviewThe location is really good. Kite festival was literally short walking distance from the hotel. We had an ocean view so we could see the vendors and some kites.
The occupants on the next room were so noisy until 0400. The next day we asked if we could transfer to another room. We got a detailed voicemail that they could move us to another room but when we came in , the receptionist was so rude. She was saying that she didn’t leave that message that I second guessed myself. Then when my husband and I retrieved the massage she specially said that the manager said hang they could move us. She then say that because we booked from Booking.com that she could not transfer us. We have always booked from a third party and never had this problem. Plus she was rude when I asked what was the problem. She didn’t apologize but said I already told you. Poor customer service. My husband said maybe she was stressed because of the baby. Other issues I had was the bad smell Jem flushing the toilet and musty smell that you smell in the bed. I had to cover my nose and had trouble with it on the first night.
