We liked that it had easy access to the mountain lift. The location was great. We had a van and parked it easily in the parking lot.

The lock on the door was old and a little hard to operate.

The location can't be beat. Parkingn was $25 per night, but it was secure and just steps away from the hotel. The staff was incredibly welcomig and the facilities, although older, were well maintained. Coffee service in the mornig was a plus. After a long drive, the beautiful pool was heated and so inviting. We also had cocktails and appetizers just off of the pool at the outdoor bar seating.

I had read that over the summer construction was being done on the hotel, which was true and began at 9:00 a.m and continuted until 5:00 p.m. Unfortunately, this is just part of staying in a place like Vail where updates and construction need to be done during the off-season due to weather.

    Location is great, staff wonderful

Old, no air conditioning, no real place to have breakfast

    Property response:

Thank you for your review—we’re glad to hear you enjoyed our great location and wonderful staff. As a traditional Bavarian ski lodge, our property does reflect an older style, and we do not offer air conditioning as our mountain climate typically provides cool evenings. We have a hot breakfast at Sarah’s Lounge, open daily 8-11am for a charge. Many guests also take advantage of the nearby cafés and bakeries just steps from our front door

The location is perfect - right in the village near the restaurants, ski lift and the Ford Amphitheater. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The outside area by the pool was a pleasant spot to enjoy a drink, have breakfast and relax.

There was no AC in the room and it was hot even with all windows open. Also, the room, especially the bathroom is very small.

Location, staff, room had everything we needed

    A little old

    Property response:

Thank you for your feedback—we’re glad to hear that our location, staff, and your room had everything you needed. While our lodge does have an older, traditional style, we like to think it adds to the Bavarian ski lodge charm. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back again soon!

Incredible location. Old school Vail property with vintage hotel layout and design. Very nice staff. The restaurant and the adjacent gathering area were very nice to hang out at.

Very poor oor coffee quality. Staff was excellent but understaffed. It didn't seem like a manager was on duty during xheck-in (but again, the staff there was excellent) Patio was very dirty. Grounds in back had equipment scattered around but no employees present. Doors were difficult to operate. The restaurant and bar has friendly staff but the restaurant and bar could use a complete overhaul.

    Location is good

First room assigned had not been cleaned once we got into the room; towels everywhere, bed slept in, unmade. Switched to a “suite”, decorated before my grandparents apartment in Miami Beach in 1970, poor condition. Coffee maker broken after a lousy night sleep in a hot room.

    Property response:

We appreciate your feedback. I understand you were disappointed upon arrival when the room assigned wasn't turned over. For that reason, we immediately upgraded you from your reserved standard room to a two-room suite at no additional charge. As noted on our website and listings, we are a Bavarian ski lodge, and the rooms are furnished in a traditional Alpine style to reflect that character. While décor is subjective, we do our best to maintain the authenticity and history of the lodge. We regret that your stay did not meet your expectations, for future visits to Vail, we would recommend choosing one of the more modern-style properties in the village, which may better align with what you are looking for.

Great location. Very helpful and friendly staff

We had a garden level room —no AC so window open for air—gardener watered into our room, hit twice by workers exiting into hallway from our room as door too close, shower curtain kept falling down while using shower.

Location is perfect, very peaceful with the creek running right behind the property and a little deck/patio to sit on and listen to the water. The owner and the employees are wonderful and very helpful to make your stay perfect.

It could use a little maintenance but it looks like they are currently undergoing some. The property has been there for over 60 years and still looking great.

The ambiance was just right as well as the location. The young man attending the check-in counter was very kind and gave great suggestions on places to eat (Lost Heaven Asian).

The rooms were a bit dated.

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of July. Location is very convenient. The room we stayed at first floor has the historical, classical feeling reflected in the amenities and design of the room. The room air can get really dry (which probably common at this altitude), the room had a humidifier available in the closet. If you prefer modern amenities and design, this may not be room type for you. It was clean and the staff was very helpful.

Great staff - deserving of 5 stars. Terrific location.

Super small room. If we had been family with 2 small kids, maybe. Super tight quarters, small bathroom, right next to parking lot and no A/C only box fan. Spent considerable time on the patio/pool deck which again was nice.
