How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

They put me on a second floor with children and got a complaint before quiet hours. Didn’t get refund because of it.
Ma’am, you have four children that you let run up and down the hallways all night long. Front desk had to come up there four times. The people below you complains and got discounts the next morning this is breaking a policy and you lose your deposit.

Verified reviewCheck in was easy and the night clerk was very pleasant and helpful.
When we checked in, it was late. When we got into our room, we realized it smelled wet and musty and the air was sticky. We were tired, so we went ahead and went to sleep and said we would deal with it in the morning. In the morning, my husband went down to make the front desk aware of the situation and was met with no help and the GM, Starla, was extremely rude about the whole situation. Initially cutting him off stating that they don't allow late check out... we still had 2 nights on our stay so we weren't asking for that. After he explained the situation, she then told him that ALLLLLLL hotels in the south were like that. Mind you, I have lived in the south my whole life and even visited hotels further south without the hotel room smelling horrible or the carpet being wet and my husband stays in the area frequently for work. After the incident, because we couldn't be refunded, we decided to stay (unhappily). We leave for lunch and right away this woman calls to ask if we are checking out. I let her know that we weren't and she then tells me that my husband "yelled" at her and was rude and that I can stay but he can't be rude to her. This woman is the most unprofessional person I think I have ever encountered in a management position. We didn't finish our stay. We ended up going to the Fairfield in Decatur which was 1000 times better and the staff were all very friendly.
Sorry you feel this way but we do not deal or let guest yell at the front desk management or any of our staff. The housekeepers were yelled at and the front desk was yelled at. Better luck in the future have a great day.

Verified reviewBreakfast was nice. Cereals, waffles, muffins, sausage patties, eggs, and bread for toast with variety of jelly. Coffee, juice, and other drinks were available.
I cannot think of anything i didn't like.

I was charged a $50 damage deposit that I am supposed to get back. I told front desk person morning of checkout that my wife and I had traveled the entire day that we checked in and went straight to bed and I assured her there was no damage. Her response was that everyone is charged a damage deposit. I told her I had never paid a damage deposit at which time she became a robot and just repeated herself. Our original plan was to stay at Clario on the return trip home but changed plans.
I am sorry, sir, but we have done a damage deposit for 10 years and everyone must pay it. I promise you we are not the only hotels that do it. It doesn’t matter what you did in the room. It matters that you used the room and you did receive it back. Have a great day.

Verified reviewGreat bed and bathroom. Very clean and comfy. I liked that I could control the temperature as the weather was horrible and the a/c was freezing when I checked in.
I was in an adjoining room next to family with small baby. The door didn't muffle the crying much. The breakfast on the second morning was barely warm. I'm amazed it didn't make me sick.
I am sorry there is not much we can do about someone having a baby, but we are glad you enjoyed the stay. We hope that you will come back and see us.
