Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe second floor has to contend with third floor guests moving around and the creaking floors between them. The shower room is good sized and was clean but there appeared to my mold on the walls. The room could used additional ventilation.
We’ve stayed here a few times, this time was our first with a second floor room. The hotel is well decorated and is in a great location for exploring downtown. The adjoining restaurant is always a good spot. And the staff are always really nice.

United StatesAll that said, would it have killed anyone to give us a bedtable reading lamp? There’s certainly enough stores to buy a used lamp in this town! That, and with all this efficiency, and shared bathrooms…shouldnt it be cheaper? It’s very cool, but at the end of the day, I paid 158 dollars to share a bathroom….(Summer 2025) So, yeah, I’m conflicted. The attached restaurant is tasty but precious and annoying. They need to really make up their mind about whether its table service or counter service.
It’s very cool to see an old school hotel kept that way! It has elegance and charm and is very free of dumb waste of the sort that modern life accepts as standard. Wood! Metal! Cloth. Thats all you deal with here, and all that are needed. No dumb plastic crap. The arrangement of the shared shower was fine and the water pressure was AMAZING.

United StatesThe bed was incredibly comfortable; I think I slept better those two nights than I had in weeks. There is a lot of street noise, sirens, loud people, etc., though they provide ear plugs and I had my little sound machine, so I was immune to the city noise. I had some pre-anxiety about having to share a bathroom, and I was definitely overthinking it; it was not a big deal at all and the facilities were very clean. The whole place feels intimate and welcoming as opposed to a commercial hotel with no personality. I loved it and would definitely recommend to anyone, especially solo travelers. The walls are thin and the wood floors are creaky, but I didn’t even know there were children across the hall until I saw them leaving. Will stay again when going to Astoria!

United StatesWasn't exactly like pictures, was sharing with friend who was going to sleep on the couch which we thought was going to look like in pictures. When arrived it was barely even a love seat, more like metal frame with cushions. We asked front desk if they had a cot or something equivalent, but were told they do not. Nice front desk assoc gave us extra blankets & pillows. The coffee maker was electric kettle with instant coffee, not ideal. The light/ fan fixture above bed would turn on at super random times during the night.

United StatesThe room was their largest and newly renovated delightfully. But, the traffic noise was overwhelming! I wish we would have known to pick a room as far away from the corner of two busy streets!
The hotel, the staff, the age of the hotel, the remodeling and the size of our room were great. But

United StatesSome rooms are "hostel-style" with a separate bathroom. The price is not hostel-style. We upgraded to a "suite" which included a very nice, updated bathroom. This cost an additional $80. We stayed on a Friday night and it was loud outside until about 3 am. I used the provided ear plugs and slept well, but my wife was up most of the night and should have used the ear plugs.
Nice historic hotel in close proximity to restaurants, tap rooms and shopping. The hotel is well maintained and staff is friendly. The connected restaurant had one of the best breakfasts I've had in years.

United StatesThe hotel has on street parking which can be a minor challenge
This hotel is right downtown in historic Astoria. Because of that, there is city noise if you elect to leave your window open, but the room comes with disposable earplugs). The public trolley line is two blocks away and there are restaurants all around the hotel. I had a small (very clean) room with a comfortable bed and chair and the room includes a sink. The bath and shower are shared and both were very clean and easy to use. (The shower was very good). My front desk clerk was pleasant and helpful regarding the hotel and surrounding area. This room experience is similar to staying in a McMenamins Hotel, albeit without a tavern.

United StatesThe room was very hot and bright, and traffic noise was insane. We were only there for one night, and that was plenty.
Nabbed a great on-street parking place right out front, so no complaints there. The neighborhood was very walkable with lots of entertainment and dinner options. Had no idea Astoria was so accessible and lively.

United StatesThere was a WiFi service outage while I was there, though the hotel did notify guests beforehand. I had difficulty accessing their backup WiFi system so resorted to a personal hotspot. This is also an old building, so if any guests come in noisily late at night you will hear them.
Location has good access to food and shops nearby (affiliated cafe downstairs), with close proximity to major roads in and out of town. Friendly staff and welcoming environment, with clean facilities. Easy access to the building afterhours, and I was able to get my key despite showing up much later than I expected. Nearby street parking was free overnight through 11AM; plenty of spaces.
