How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The fridge ! Others would prob sleep through it - but I struggled !

Room had been recently renovated and was lovely. Really comfortable. Area felt safe with young children. Lots of good food available nearby. Parking garage felt secure. Safety deposit box in the room.

We drew the short straw in that there were tradespeople painting the exterior of the building. During the two days we stayed (4-5 of them) were right at our third-floor windows. We had a lovely view from our suite but during daylight (working) hours needed to keep the shutters closed and live in a cave. the work needed to be done, and it will all be for the greater good.
We like the Cow Hollow inn because it suits us location wise and there is plenty of room in the suites to relax and unwind after a long flight. the decor is old fashioned but comfortable and the beds are super comfortable too. the common areas (stairwells and lifts are old and tired and need a good clean and refresh. That said, we would stay there again.

Short staffed so couldn’t get room made up for two nights. Smelled of Thai food ( restaurants next door and same block).
Great location for dining, coffee, and nice to have parking. Staff was helpful.

A bit on expensive side
Clean room, looked like it had just been remodeled, liked that we felt like our car was safe in underground parking garage. Great security! Nice staff.

Breakfast would have been great
Convenient location in San Francisco with parking. Plenty of restaurants near by for breakfast and more. Staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs.

The rooms facing the street can be noisy if you go to sleep early. Motel beds are too soft for our taste.
The rooms are so spacious and clean and well organized!!! This made our stay much more relaxed, especially for my husband who has physical limitations. The elevators are also a great bonus for us too. We've stayed at a motel that only had stairs and it was quite difficult to get to our room. And tasty eateries are within walking distance. Yum!

The elevator door was very clunky and didn’t stop closing when someone was in the doorway.

The only fault was the bathroom could have done with another once-over by the cleaning staff. There were a few hairs in the floor and in the shower, and the body wash was completely empty. These things were such a small inconvenience though they didn’t affect our stay or enjoyment of the property.
The property is well maintained and clean and the room was comfortable. We mainly booked this place because of the on-site parking, which is almost unheard of in SF. We found a parking spot right after checking in and left the car in their garage the whole time. Even though the hotel is in a great area that feels very safe, we didn’t want to drive around while we were here and it was so nice knowing the rental was safe and off the street. Mel’s is right across the road and Walgreens right around the corner. Everything you want to see is a few miles away so either a bit of a walk or short Waymo ride away. We were so pleased with the hotel and we’ll definitely stay again next time were in SF!

My bed was too hard for me.
The staff was so kind and helpful. The remodeled rooms were clean and comfortable and attractive. The room was very quiet.

Loved the parking, as that is rare to find in SF. The Cow Hollow Inn also gave me a vintage vibe that I just loved. Very cute decor. Location is central enough, close to bars and restaurants.
