Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Room was quite cramped, even with just 2 people. Mattress was a bit too hard. The bathroom could have used more ventilation.
Easy to find, and Markleeville is such a cute town. Todd was very friendly and gave us a little tour of the lodge and oriented us to the “downtown” area. (Cutthroat Tavern next door is a gem!) As far as the room itself, it was clean and the shower was great, especially for tall people :)

The Lodge was super clean and cute! Tiny Pioneer town with lots of history. Really enchanting and worth checking out.

A bit pricey for what it is, but understandable since there aren't many options in the area.
Very kind staff that was readily reachable a phone call away. Location was great, about 30 min from Kirkwood, with the best pork chop I've had right across the street. Heater was very warm and cozy. Felt like a very safe and small town which adds to the coziness. No cell service, which adds to the remoteness, but wifi works fine, so hopefully you have wifi calling on your phone plan.

This is our 3rd time booking at Creekside for weekend ski trip and we love it, it’s clean, cozy, and the self check in and out is so convenient. The owner called us ahead of time to let us know about limited dining options during the MLK weekend and advised to make a reservation at Stonefly next door, and I’m glad we did. Would definitely come back again!

It was a little further from Lake Tahoe than I was expecting.
The room was quaint. Outside of the building could use some sprucing up. The front desk guy was awesome.

My complaints are not major. I wish the heating was a little bit more even. The room would heat up, but the bathroom was cold. I wish there was a comforter instead of blankets. However;, I would stay here again.
I liked the location and the service. Staff was really nice. Across the street is a fantastic restaurant and cafe. Markleeville is also super cute.

The staff is very friendly, eager to help and also give you your privacy. The room was very clean and cute and comfortable! Location was great right in front of the cafe, restaurant and store :)

Only down side was we came mid-week so no restaurants were open. Thankfully there was hot water and a few drink options like tea, instant coffee. We planned for this and brought breakfast.
Innkeeper was very friendly and checked to make sure we were all comfortable, had what we needed. Room was very clean with all the necessities including a mini-fridge. So wonderfully quiet at night and peaceful Markleeville Creek runs next to the inn where you can catch the sunset and hear the water flowing.

A very quite location in a cute little town in the hills. It felt homey. Comfortable beds and pillows. Nice towels and well supplied bathroom. The little kitchen was nice too. The manager was also very helpful. He left me a nice detailed message for checking in after office hours. Very thoughtful 🙂

Leaving - we will be back
The sweet and accommodating hosts. The comfy bed. The ceiling fan. The shower was great. We could open the window and hear the river below.
