Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThis wasn't a problem for us, but make sure to not pack to heavy. The staircase is narrow and steep up to the third floor, but again...it's a 17th century house
We loved the overall ambiance of the house and the ability to stay in a piece of history. Bed was comfortable and room was spacious.

United KingdomDaniels house was amazing, rich in history, and it was beautiful inside and out. If I return to Salem, I would definitely go back to and you need longer than 1 night. The house was exceptionally clean and smelt so good interiors tastefully decorated. The owners were also lovely people and very keen to keep the historical factor of the house.

IrelandThe only thing I didn't like was the shared bathroom- I didn't realise that I could pick a room. I was allocated the Marion Room (which was beautiful) but would much prefer our own bathroom.
Magnificent stay, felt transported in time. Daniels Inn is perfect for your stay in Salem. The instructions that Patrick sent to let ourselves into the building were very clear and easy. Location was great.

United States of AmericaBreakfast is very simple, with coffee, tea and bread and a few pastries. To really step it up a notch, you might consider contracting with a great local bakery, if you were able to order the day before based on occupied rooms? Another thought would be a tray warmer and putting out a quiche as a fancier option? I only write this because it is a Bed and Breakfast, but as a guest you can easily find many great breakfast and coffee options within an easy walk from the Daniel's House.
PJ and Adele have done a great job of keeping this historical house in perfect condition! They have brought in the modern pluses of a microwave, shower and comfortable bed while still allowing us to feel like we are back in time 350 years ago! With a degree in Historic Preservation, PJ was even able to expand more on the building, which made our experience even more interesting! This is the best way to experience Salem, a town with so much history! This is the perfect place to be if you appreciate American history, not for people that don't appreciate the quality of old craftsmanship. You would do better in a modern hotel, but then why are you visiting Salem? :)

United KingdomBeing a clumsy 5 foot 9 the low ceilings and tight corners were tricky, especially in the shower on the 3rd floor but it's a minor complaint and it doesn't take away from the history and gorgeousness of our time there. Just bear in mind if you're really tall you might be have to be wary in some rooms but it's 100% worth it
The history of the house is just amazing, and the room we had (Marion room) was gorgeous. The host was a really interesting guy and we had a great chat with him. The bnb is in a great location for the heart of Salem village too, close to the wharf and maritime history part while still being close to the shops and restaurants.

United States of Americathe breakfast was a voucher at a local restaurant; walk was 10 minutes; the food was excellent and plentiful, but it would have been nice to have breakfast and/or coffee at the place
great location; room was quite large, as well as the bathroom (we had the Great Room); it is a very old house, so low ceilings and lots of creaking floorboards and noise from other guests - nothing out of the ordinary for this kind of accomodation
