How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The fire alarm went off Saturday morning... that was not fun. Nothing was going on from what we could tell.
I liked that there was a restaurant on site. I liked the bed it was comfy. Great location.

The elevators were tight, the rooms were small for the price and the hallways were very hot.
I like the cleanliness, staff and the restaurant below.

Ice machines broke on several floors - not working on Floors 5, 6, or 3...difficult to travel around to different floors to see where the ice was. Staff in the lobby were not helpful and were not aware of the ice machine issue. Also Elevators were terrible this time - wouldn't take you to the right floors. Several of us were on an elevator, used our room keys yet the Elevator had a mind of it's own and would not land on the right floors selected. Had to get out and take the stairs .
Breakfast was good but the service was super slow - many people complaining for breakfast and the manager didn't seem to care but said the waiter will be right with you. Other than that the food was great.

The hallway and elevators were hot, and the ice machine was not working.
This hotel is in a great location, the rooms were clean, and the housekeeping staff was awesome. Checking in and out was easy, and the front desk staff was very nice.

At night the hall lighting was a bit dim. It made me a little nervous, but they do have numerous cameras in the hallways for safety.
The location was perfect! They do have valet parking for $35 a day. I felt that was a bit costly, but I didn’t need my car during the stay.

The air conditioning unit is right next to the bed and we had to keep it on because it will get hot but theirs no way to lower the fan or had it face another way. It’s an older hotel things started to look rusty. Bathroom needs a good circulation because the rooms are very small so you had to open the balcony door to have air flowing. Also, tissue cover looks so bad and rusty needs to be thrown out.
It was nice to be able to walk to the beach and wake up to it. The beds were comfortable. The staff were amazing. First time to Virginia and we only stayed one night. So far it was a great experience.

The room was out dated. The shower/ tub had mold on the caulking. The door to the arm war was warped and the carpet was worn out and seemed dirty.
Location was very nice. The couple (house keepers) that cleaned the 5th floor was very nice and helpful.

Staff was not friendly when checking in. Welcoming guests should be of the upmost importance, but it felt like we were a nuisance.

Computer system was down for several hours. No one could check in. We had to change our evening plans. Staff handled it well. But, it was an inconvenience.

Front desk man was short and kind of smug when I asked questions.

Ice machine was out on several floors. I had to stop on several different floors to find one that worked.
Mack and Urmi, the 5th floor house keeping staff were very nice and helpful

Parking was an extra $15 per day 1 block away.
Great location. We enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable. King Room was clean (although a little small). Free coffee in the morning.

I think the property could use some exterior upgrades particularly on the balconies just for more curve appeal. Also a turn down service daily would be nice.

No outside pool, no microwave in individual rooms and the self parking needs to be explained a little better. You can see where paint touch up’s were done and paint just left on glass doors, need some better attention to repairs.
Location, comfortable beds, good water pressure. Nice entry to hotel.
