Bed was uncomfortable, couldn’t get humidity out with a/c…got colder but was really damp. Carpet seemed dirty, felt sticky. Such a dark color, who knows.

The location is very beautiful. Most rooms have excellent views of the surrounding mountains. It's a bit far away from the nearest grocery store, but it really beats the expensive hotels in nearby Grand Marais. Pool and hot-tub facilities are excellent, and are open all the way up to 11pm (for adults). Rooms have all the amenities.

The pop machines weren't working.Not a huge thing, but they aren't close to any gas stations or convenience stores, so would be nice if they worked.

I loved it here. Some minor things but nothing worth complaining about. I’d just recommend updating to firmer pillows and perhaps some more fresh smelling cleaning products but they will cost more.

I’m not gonna poo poo on the place cause it’s busy and it’s gotta be tough keeping all the rooms looking perfect. My room could use some updates and refreshing but it definitely met my needs. It was clean, lots of towels. TV, coffee maker, microwave and all the electrical stuff such as ventilation fans all worked. The room smelled of a citrusy cleaner which wasn’t horrible but was a tad overwhelming at first but an hour of having the windows open and it was all good. Bed isn’t bad, clean sheets. Pillows are very smushy and smaller size so I would recommend updating to memory foam if possible. Again, not putting the place down. These are just small things I noticed. Shower was great, quiet rooms for the most part. Couch and tv room chair weren’t in great shape but served their purpose. I was in room 284 and you get what you pay for. If you’re looking for a home base so you can go out all day hike, eat and see the sights, this place is perfect. If you are just hanging in the room, you will find some minor flaws, nothing bad or big, they are minor details. Perfect for kids. The view of the mountains are spectacular. I enjoyed my stay, front desk kid was a nice fella and was helpful. I’d say 4 stars out of 5 from my experience alone. I hiked oberg mountain loop which is only a 10 minute drive back towards Tofte and it was great! Scenic overlooks galore. Oberg is a great hike!!! Grand Marais is about 20 minutes north up 61 so if you want to shop, eat, get coffee and look at some beautiful scenery I’d recommend cruising up the shore and visit the lively little lake town, it really is fun there. Great area !

I came up here to ride the "Jackpot/High climber Trail." I was confused with Cook County's map of the trail (on how to get to it, exactly). I asked the staff all throughout the Lodge how to get to "Highclimber." No one knew anything about the area. It had rained the day I arrived, so I was doubtful about being able to ride the trail (being it so wet). As an option, I thought I could at least ride on the "Gitchi Gama Trail." When I went to get info about, GG, again, no one knew anything. I found out on my own that I can get on the GG right off of Ski Hill Trail and there's parking access there also, if I don't want to ride down the hill from the Lodge to get to it. I wasted half my day just trying to find out where things are because no one at the Lodge knows anything about the area.

Took two visits to get out TV to work. Our keys didn’t work our second day and we had to go back to get them recharged. No apology or explanation.

Beautiful setting—loved having a deck to take in the views. The gondola ride was fun.

The bed slept like a taco for my husband and I. We are not very big people so it was obvious that it was a old bed. Room #212. ( the bed in front of the tv was more uncomfortable than the other one). The pillows need an upgrade too. It had rained a lot the night before and we could tell the floor was very damp. I couldn't wear socks, they would get soaked.
