How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe art deco decor in the lobby is quite attractive, and the 20s music everywhere set the scene but in some of the lifts it was far too loud. The check-in was reasonably efficient despite the crowds.
Poky room, nowhere to sit other than the bed, room moderately well cleaned and maintained but no coffee/tea facilities. The room was sold as "breakfast included" but the only inclusion was a "grab and go" option - if you wanted to sit down you had to pay and the meal we received (scrambled eggs, fried potatoes and greens) was semi-cold, congealed and served by a surly waitress who told us that if we weren't satisfied we should take it up with the hotel - hers was a separate business. We'd had dinner in the restaurant the previous evening: very crowded and noisy, but reasonably well prepared.

Verified reviewThe room was spacious and had plenty of spaces for luggage and clothing. The bed and pillows were super comfortable! The shower and bathrooms were clean and we had plenty of hot water. The location of the hotel is perfect for those going to Broadway shows during their visit, and Friedman’s downstairs has an amazing breakfast. We also enjoyed the ease of using the luggage storage services after checkout so we could explore for the afternoon before our late night flight.
Bond 45 wasn’t very good and is overpriced. The staff is friendly and it’s right across the street from Hamilton if you’re just looking for something close by. The meatballs were good, but the rest just wasn’t worth the price tag. Plenty of other restaurants to pick from in the area.

Verified reviewWhen originally booking the hotel and room with breakfast included, to then find out just before the arrival that a full breakfast was not included only a few items. Having paid 1800 dollars for 4 nights was not value for money. Information like that really should be conveyed during the booking and not small print hidden away.
Lack of breakfast for the price of the stay when breakfast was 'included' in the price.

Verified reviewVery centrally located, great affordable breakfast, tight security, staff very friendly overall and housekeeping staff friendly and kept the room neat and clean. Best elevators of any hotel I have ever stayed in! Never had to wait more than a few seconds!
Paying $8 per package delivered, I have never paid a fee at any other hotel, Air conditioner was quite noisy. Bartender in the rum bar was a bit unpleasant, did not go back.

Verified reviewi liked the gym and the bed, and even if i liked the gym it wasnt that well equipped
the thing that i really disliked was the staff, they dont care to explain the different extra charges you have to pay, or they dont try to understand your situation, you are just a client if you pay and stay complient

Verified reviewBreakfast was great, location can't be beat, and for being right in times square the rooms were pretty spacious
The building is older, there's some upkeep that could happen, but every hotel I've stayed in the area is like that!

Check in was very stressful because they lost the reservation. The bathroom in the room was extremely small and crowded.

Verified reviewService in Friedmans Cafe was ok. In Bond 45 it was poor. The lobby is beautiful.
Service in Bond 45 was poor. The cleanliness and general upkeep was not as good as I would normally expect. Thread bare carpets on the threshold. Dust in the vents. Dust in the corner of the carpets. There was a dime in the corner of the room when we arrived....and still there when we left! Not sure if somebody had glued it down...I wasn't going to start to try lifting it up! I booked this hotel as I generally like something with a bit more character than the generic international hotels. It's just a shame it seemed to be relying on the charm of the building rather than the basics.

Verified reviewThe elevators are very fast and the door men were helpful
Where to start... First, our air conditioning didn't work for the first 4 days of our trip. It took 5 separate times of complaining that the repair man was doing nothing for them to finally get us moved. Second, the new room had no shower curtain in the bathroom. It had a permanent wall and an opening like some modern showers do. However the opening is WAY too big and close to the shower head so water just pours out into the bathroom. Third, it was rare for someone to be available when you called the front desk, they need more staff. For everything else, rooms are old and dust/grime have built up in corners and under things, rooms are tiny and the bathrooms smaller, and general care is not what you'd expect of a supposed 4-star hotel. I would not stay here again.
