As advertised and existing high rating is completely valid. Great location - close enough to everything you could possible want to visit and take in but not amongst it. Hosts were super friendly and helpful. Will be returning on our next visit.

Very impressed with courtyard. Lots of trees, vines, flowers, koi pond, fire pit, and the sound of birds…very peaceful and relaxing. Room very unique with many of the furnishings made of juniper trees.

Excellent location within walking distance of multiple shops and restaurants. Our room was very large and comfortable with a great patio and gas firepit. The amenities included in the room (fridge, safe, etc.) all worked very well and were easy to use. The staff was very friendly and immediately responsive to requests. We loved the decor of our room (Greene and Greene) and felt completely at ease for our entire stay. The snacks provided with the room were excellent and really met our needs for the extensive hiking we did throughout the week. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend El Portal to friends and family and look forward to our next visit

Stay was too short. That's on me.

Great ambiance. Loved the room decor and the private outside patio area. The courtyard, with all the plants, chairs and firepit just added to the magic. The hotel was perfectly located next to shops and restaurants and the access to the spa and pool next door was an added bonus. Note: The folks at the hotel next door could not have been any nicer and enthusiastic that we were there to use the facilities. Can't wait to return.

All was very nice

The care and love put into constructing this charming European appearing hotel was so appealing. We enjoyed morning coffee and evening wine in the serene courtyard with the fire pit to take the chill off. The staff is pleasant and helpful and the room and breakfast were just right. Shopping and strolling through the park are a short walk away. Definitely a good find to return to.

I cannot think of a thing everything was awesome

Super friendly staff even before we arrived. I loved the courtyard area with the fire pit and all the little extra food items available to guests. I also love the authentic to the area Adobe walls.

Such a lovely hotel! Beautiful grounds and the most comfortable of rooms. Great location - we walked to many shops/restaurants. Loved having the in room fireplace and roasting s'mores on outdoor fire. Appreciate the inclusion of free snacks (including the s'mores kit!) and NA beverages.
