Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. The room was a little dirty when we arrived. There was some chewed gum stuck to the headboard and some ash on the very top as well.
The accommodations were very convenient and cheap.

The staff doesn't have any customer service attitude. There is a lot of noise through the walls.

Pressure and volume of shower a bit of a pity. Took a long time to wash shampoo out of hair.
Nice and clean. You can see the owners are slowly upgrading the rooms. Comfortable King bed.

It was still under construction. (But it wasn’t noisy.) A laundry fee was more costly than others.
The receptionists were friendly and kind. He recommended where we should visit and explained how to use a laundry.

The location isn’t the best to walk around after sunset, both my partner and i didn’t feel suuuuper safe, but that’s probably just in our heads (nothing happened whatsoever). Just seemed a bit sketchy at night.
Loved that it had hard floor, we personally don’t like carpet. The staff was kind, our room seemed to be freshly renovated. In general, there was some construction going on, so it seems they are renovation quite a bit, which is nice!

Some things were dirty like the windows panels, the window, and the mirrors. There were no hangers, but a closet. No dresser, but a random desk/shelf in front of the TV. The layout was unusual.
They’re renovating a lot of the space, so you can tell they value up keeping the property.

Room was sparsely furnished. Plenty of room for a table or a desk, but only had a small wall mounted shelf and an uncomfortable all metal chair.

I didn’t like how when I checked in got my room and the staff didn’t even tell us the main line for the water bursted so i wasn’t able to shower I had to use five water bottle and did jail style soap in soap out . when I asked why the water didn’t work he said OH ABOUT That I felt like he scammed all his customer that day for paying and wasn’t able to shower or use water . situation like that they should of gave us back half refund but they have a no refund policy which is unacceptable . plus my room didn’t have a tv remote I spend my whole night listening to music instead .
I like the rooms it’s kinda like an Airbnb look to it and it’s simple and amazing ❤️

The staff needs to upgrade their cable system. The television in my room does have KSBW CHANNEL 8 on it.

The towels were so bad I was better off drying myself with a paper towel. No hand soap in the bathroom. Bed was super squeaky and cheap. Not very comfortable. A bunch of random people lurking around the parking lot that didn’t seem to be staying here.
Check in was quick and easy.

why was it $89 on your listing and $120+ final bill. $30 local taxes....really??? I requested a ground floor room, got one for disabled, which was way better than a 'normal' room. problem was there was no where to put a suitcase to access it except on the bed or table. also, since ground floor and facing the street, it needed some kind of security bars so i could open the windows without fear of a break in. (only other option was to sleep with the AC - no, thanks) and also needed a curtain since opening the slats to let air in also allowed for peepers to peer inside. I especially DID NOT LIKE the staff calling my name at 9am outside my window to be sure I would leave on time. I did not request a wake up call but rather requested a one hour later departure time since I arrived after 10p The front desk lady was nice but very demeaning and sarcastic and judgmental, so NOT hospitable - she needs to learn the true meaning of HOSPITALITY

The tile shower is pretty but for cleanliness purposes I would prefer a one piece bottom, no grout yucky look.
Good central location and a short ride to Monterey attractions. The room was clean and updated.

Beds and bedding.
Cheap room easy access of main roads. Came here to sleep 1 night on a road trip. Got what we paid for which was cheap. Beds are not that comfy and sheets need a good bleaching. No bugs in room. Good enough for 1 sleep.
