How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

Verified reviewI had a wonderful stay! The room is cozy, quiet, and very comfortable—I had a great night's sleep. The bed was especially comfortable. The private entrance adds an extra level of convenience and privacy. The location is excellent, and the host is extremely accommodating, always quick to respond to any questions or requests (even helping with the TV remote!). Highly recommend!

Verified reviewEverything’s wonderful. The owner is very accommodating and responds quickly with any questions or accommodations, like using the laundry facilities. There was some kitchen utensils and plates available for use. Not too much noise, just occasional dog barking but nothing too loud or frequent.

Verified reviewIt was quite and personal. No one bothered us. We were offered toiletries.
On the first day I had sandals on and the grass before the sidewalk has a lot of rooted grass. My shoe got stuck and I fell and scrapped my knee and elbow. My boyfriend had to help me every time because it also had a lot of holes covered by grass. The sidewalk has two access holes that can be very dangerous.

coffee mug that was there in the room was cracked, chipped and not usable. there could be a table and chair other than the lean to desk and cheep office chair that's going to drop someone on the floor soon... otherwise my stay was good...
Kent...thanks for the chair and table suggestion (this was already in the plan). You say the desk chair is cheap? that at any moment is going to throw someone? That chair is new, and you could fall, if you had a serious overweight problem. You weighed about 200 pounds at most, from what I could observe, so throwing you away is not going to happen. From the coffee cup. that was broken? You lie Kent. It is a beautiful large mug with a photo of Mexico City. It's still there, I washed it myself when you left and this morning I did it again and it's in perfect condition. Next time, I recommend that if something you think is not right, ask for it to be replaced, that's what we're here for. You left me a 6, instead of a 10. God save me from people like you, who without sufficient reason affect our score, it seems you did it with the intention of affecting me.

Verified reviewVery accommodating and safe and comfortable felt like I was just at home. The place is of course small because it’s a room, but it is exactly what is needed for a nice comfortable stay. The neighborhood is quiet, comfortable friendly, and safe very clean and nice. The owners were very accommodating to necessities and were very understanding. Loved the photograph of Juan Gabriel it added character to the room! :D

Are you giving me a bad grade to affect my score? you? to whom I gave the courtesy of entering 3 hours before check-in time? You who asked me to enter at 12 pm instead of 3 pm and I allowed it, you White Byron, who in your account says that you are from a country called Abkhazia, but in your cell phone number, it comes with the lada + 93 that belongs to Afghanistan. The question is, who was the Home less, who arrived by bicycle to my place? He told me that he lived on the street, that he was going to take shelter from the possible rain, my question is, who do reserve for this person? I don't think he has a credit card to pay for booking.com. Did someone from my competition in the area rent me the place and send me the home less man, so today they can leave me a bad review and affect me? I attended to this person the next day, because I had to go and tell him that check out was at 11 am, and it was already going to be 12 pm and he didn't leave the room. He was very kind to me, he asked me for coffee, the coffee maker in the room was failing and I went to the house and prepared his hot coffee and gave it to him. He asked me twice if I could give him work on something around the house. I believe that someone else rented the room, sent this person they met on the street and gave them the stay, with the sole intention of now being able to have the right to give me a bad review. We will have to investigate if White Byron, is really the person who entered the room, is recorded on the camera.
