How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff was very helpful upon my arrival. There was some confusion with my room and my son's room because we have the same name.However it was corrected without issue.
Not having a driver for your Van on the weekends was not good. Having to request a uber/taxi was a big let down when I'm looking at a van just sitting there. Also I requested to pay cash at the end of my stay and the system was down. If I was able to pay upon my arrival, it would have been very helpful.

My husband was racially profiled by one of the staff at the front desk. The security told my husband he was asked to follow my husband to see what floor and room he was going to. We have all of this on recording.

Verified reviewI had a very disappointing experience at Hilton Richmond Downtown. The room was far below expectations for a hotel of this brand. There were no basic toiletries provided — the shower gel, shampoo, and other bathroom amenities were either missing or completely empty. Even worse, the bathroom flush wasn’t working properly. The air conditioning system in the room was also a major issue. It didn’t work at all, and we had to spend the entire night in an uncomfortably hot room with no way to adjust the temperature. To add to the frustration, our room key didn’t work properly. We had to keep going back and forth just to get into our room. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve experienced. I expected much better from Hilton and hope these issues are addressed for future guests.

Room furnishings where stained. Breakfast was poor. Hotel didn't feel welcoming, ate evening meal at Hotel opposite. Travelled 15mins to get breakfast. Parking was ok, but expensive on top of large fee tips were expected. Overall vibe of Hotel wasn't great

Verified reviewThe bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. I liked the view of the pool and the fact that it was a quiet room, with the exception of the A/C turning on/off all night. The shower was very nice and clean as well!
Stayed 2 nights at the hotel and I was very DISAPPOINTED because they NEVER came to clean our room. When we talked with the front desk person, she was absolutely non empathetic and tried to blame us asking whether we put the "not disturb" sign up; which we didn't. She NEVER apologize for that, showing total detachment and neglect. We would have ignored that if we hadn't had other minor disappointments, such as the keys not working after check in and having to jump out of the bed early next morning due to a fire alarm. All contributed for a not so good experience. But who knows: you might be luckier. Next time we will stay at the hotel that is just across the street, where I had a better experience.

Verified reviewThe hotel was close to to the Library of Virginia. The hotel had some interesting photos of Miller and Rhodes of Richmond.
All went well even if we had a "fire drill" at breakfast time. My eggs did get cold! lol

Not worth the value I paid, room had some stains, room just didn’t look / feel clean as it should especially for the price that is paid. Parking is $41 on top of what you paid for the hotel, $6 for two small things of milk from the in house restaurant for my son.

The entire 5th floor we stayed in smelled like a smoking lounge- smoke smell is everywhere. The parking situation is TERRIBLE- MUST use Valet, and there are not enough valets or space to move cars or guests trying to check in or out easily or quickly. Finally, the hotel is located in an area of Richmond where a lot of Car Racing- with no mufflers- takes place at about 2-3:30 am on the weekends. It will wake you and your family up on the 5th floor- unless you have soundproof headphones

Verified reviewThe property was easy to find and the valets were very polite. Front desk was straight to the point but it seems there was a prom there so maybe a little stressful.
There were rips and tears to some of the walls. The rug heading toward elevators showed some signs of wear. The bathroom for could use some slight repairs.
