Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe breakfast was OK. Very expensive and not matching the quality for $55 per person. The shower door was not sealed and leaking water. Although I requested the daily room service, they didn't do it.

United StatesWe walked everyday to our hotel room because the tram service was very slow, it was faster most days to walk vs. waiting for a tram. Even after a long day- we opted to walk instead of wait because of how tired we were. The price for parking was a little outrageous- especially because we didn't do valet. $48 per day is very steep to park in a lot. The drinks on-site were a little expensive- $20! They are in small plastic cups.
The pool and lagoon on-site. Walking every morning to the local coffee shop was very convenient. Staying at a resort style hotel was nice.

CanadaReally wish they had more affordable food options for families. Each item was $27 and up. You could go to one faster food place that had salads and wraps for $16 and up. Cheapest thing was a piece of banana bread for $7. So we brought cereal and milk and fruit and lunch items and snacks etc so we could eat breakfasts in our room, and would leave for dinners out of the resort as for a family of 6, coming from Canada, each meal would have cost us minimum of $250 to $300 American which would be $400 minimum per meal in Canadian.
The property was great. Close drive to shopping centres and grocery stores. Pools were fantastic and lagoon was amazing, you could snorkel from lagoon out into the ocean, it was fantastic. We loved watching the dolphins in their pool that was in between the lagoon and makai tower. You get really close and personal views, they swim right under you under the bridge only a couple feet under you.

CanadaLimited food options. The fitness activities were limited as well. Yoga room could only fit 10 people, while hotel has 3 massive separate buildings hosting a lot of tourists that could benefit from the exercise
Amazing location with the salt water lagune. Pools and hot tabs are great. The rooms are very spacious (Macai) and well designed.

United StatesThe bathroom toilet broke down and even after they had fixed it a bit (as the flush was so weak!) they did not offer to transfer us to a much better functioning room! I had to suggest it but no follow up from them. Low batteries on the safe, missing light bulbs, smaller pillows than one would expect at a luxury resort! Their resort fees are very high, the least they can do is attention to details!
Location was close to another fantastic beach, Anaeho’omalu, the resort’s lagoon and manicured lawns were the highlight.

United StatesSome areas were harder to access (we were in Makai Tower ) having to walk around to get to other parts of property because a lack of bridges over canal . Took a couple of days to adjust. Very poor lighting at night and must walk very slow . Only had tiki torches (one of my favorite things at Hawaii resorts) also the outer ocean edge but not throughout the property . Room itself was very lackluster . Wouldn’t even know it was in Hawaii really by the decor . Run down but not disgusting . Nice long bathroom counter though . My room personally was a disappointment as I (thought) we booked a room facing the Dolphin pools as that’s why we chose this resort for my husband to swim with dolphins for his 50th bday . We were 4th floor and our patio opened up to a roof . Terrible . We spent one day driving to Kona side which had more of a Hawaii feel as resort side was nothing but lava fields . Needs for food options : very limited Breakfast buffet $55 and no AC only a few little fans so we hurried up as super uncomfortable.
1)on site natural lagoon to swim, snorkel, kayak, paddle board and more . Sea turtles, manta ray, fish and more that can been from edge , snorkel or above water . 2) beautiful pools with waterfall, bridges and more and most importantly great water temp as other places were so cold we couldn’t use . 3) Dolphins on site with easy free viewing (we also paid for Dolphin experience 4) Many Included resort activities 5) Surrounding areas include Many stores and restaurants . Even saw a few fire dancing show at the Marketplace next door . Beautiful path that is down at the shoreline and around to the Bay next door . 6) Tram and boats were cool (felt like Disneyland ) We didn’t need them as we were in Makai but rode them for fun . I’m sure kids love them .

United StatesThe snobbiness of the staff and partly their inability to do their job - I was told we would be checked in 'very soon' at 3pm and that I'd get a text to let me know. This never happened by 5pm so I went back to the desk. Unacceptably the response from the staff was ' oh I don't know why that didn't happen'. Similarly at check out I was asked why I didn't have a parking key - apparently we were supposed to have two, one for each car. We received one and upon check out nothing was done to rectify that. So we had to drive out of the car park in 'convoy' to make sure the barrier didn't land on our cars. I spoke to three different people at the front desk and not one of them apologised or explained what we needed to hear. Shocking. On a separate note, I travel a lot for business and on this occasion I noticed a distinct difference in how we were treated whenever I was together with my Hawaiian friends who accompanied us on the trip. My Hawaiian friends also noticed it and said' oh it's normal it's because we're dark skinned and local', which I was shocked to here but also explained why I had been noticing the snobby attitudes. When we ordered ice water for the family with our meal at the dolphin-side restaurant, I was also aware of the 'disdain' from the waiter (lower tip I guessed?). My feeling at the end of the stay was that it was all due to staff feeling under appreciated / undperpaid - some of their attitudes left a lot to be desired. Also WHY is there NO shade anywhere apart from shade you have to pay for?!
The impressive architecture and tram. The choice of pools and areas to explore. The rooms were spacious and clean. the breakfast is definitely an experience and worth trying.
