A pool would have been nice either way the summer heat. But we knew there was none when we rented!

Incredible property- not only was it a beautiful home in the most convenient location, but the host was very accommodating and kind. The amenities were perfect for our needs- we had zero issues.

The only negative was the lack of formal stairs and/or a railing to the entryway from the parking area. Currently, there are garden stones going down an incline versus formal stairs and no railing. This can be a bit of a safety hazard when one is carrying a suitcase, depending on the shoes one is wearing.

The beds were comfy. Breakfast is not provided; but the kitchen was stocked with coffee, tea and a full set of cookware, so I was able to make my own coffee every morning. There was also a refrigerator and dishwasher so cleaning up afterwards was easy. The location was awesome (just down the street from the art museum) and parking was included. Loved the artwork on the walls!

I wanted something more relaxed and different. I stay in DSM when I go to concerts, or events. I only live 48 miles away!! I will try to stay at OL House every time if it is available.

We really enjoyed staying the Historical Oscar Lofquist House. The owner kindly met us as we drove in (though I think it would still be easy to figure everything out if she weren't available). She was very helpful, explaining all necessary information to two weary travelers. The apartment was very clean, nicely decorated, and well supplied with everything one could need. We got in late and left fairly early the next morning to visit a relative in the area, so next time I hope to stay longer. The property is in a lovely historic neighborhood within 5 or 10 minutes of many fun destinations in Des Moines, including the art museum, botanical center, restaurants, Pappajohn Sculpture Park, science museum, etc. I have made many, many trips to Des Moines to visit family throughout the 54 years of my life, so I'm familiar with the city and can honestly say that the Oscar Lofquist House is in my favorite neighborhood!

The location was terrific 👍 the house is amazing. The room was amazing. Very quiet and you felt secluded even though the road was not to far from the room entrance. It's like a loft on the main floor. All exposed old brick. Beautiful. We would definitely stay again. The host was very accommodating.... Thank you

2 small quibbles. #1 The listing said basic cable TV. We never could find familiar or local channels. A sheet of directions/channels for the TV would have been nice. #2 Where were the paper towels in the kitchen?

The central location (I lived in DSM for 32 years) is ideal. The decor was nice. The kitchen was well equipped. The bath spotless. The bed excellent. Air conditioning was quiet and uniform.

The bed could be more comfortable.

The location was beautiful. The property was quiet and relaxing which is just what we were looking for. I was able to enjoy my coffee on the patio in the morning. The room was very nice and clean. The kitchen had coffee and sugar available. There were plenty of dishes available to use. The only thing that could that may be an issue for someone is the bed hurt our backs, but there are 2 beds and we only tried one. Someone else noted, and it's worth mentioning if your traveling for business, that the bathroom door does not seal so it is not soundproof. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely stay again.

The property was eye catching and very well maintained. The apartment was immaculate, very well apportioned with all the stated amenities. If you want to get away from the hotel/motel stay, this is the place to stay. Awesome rustic neighborhood. The proprietor was gracious and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay.
