How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewthe location is perfect if you visit as a tourist as the Hotel is literally 2 blocks from Fishermen's Warf and all the popular piers. There is also a city bus that stops around the corner, which will take you directly to the Golden Gate bridge. I also liked the fact that they offer parking (valet only, but can go in/out if needed) - but it was pretty pricy. Rooms were quet and clean. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold items and was very popular amongst guests.
it was 4 of us in the room and we all agreed that the pillows were way too hard. When I stay in different hotels they usuallly offer a choice of softer and harder pillows. We had no choice. we all had a neck pain after 2 days. I just praised the breakfast set up, but the coffee situation was a bit frustrating. The concept of machines grinding its own coffee for each cup is great, but pretty slow & one machine was broken both days, so there was always a line. Also (sorry to say that) the towels smelled kind of unfresh like they were not properly washed.

The valet doesn't always have someone there. Came out to leave and there was a sign that said back in 10 mins.
Thank you for highlighting our cleanliness! We sincerely apologize for the valet service issue; we are addressing it with the team to ensure it doesn't happen again. We hope to welcome you back!

Verified reviewThe front desk staff was very professional and friendly. The valet service agents were great. I appreciated the number of functioning trolleys available for luggage.
The room gnats. The dining room had mosquitoes and other bugs, and I was bitten by something, and someone in my party's foot swelled up and was sore for two days and counting.

Verified reviewGood for a one night stay The rooms were of good size, the location is 10 mn away from the fisherman warf however walking to the fisherman warf was a bit shady this part of San Fransisco didn't look safe
the Staff were not helpful, i have booked two rooms for a respectively high price for an express hotel, and these two rooms were one king for me and the wife and two queens for my teenage kids and we ended up in one room king and the 2nd also king despite the fact that i have made the reservations one month earlier and i specified not in the requests but in the bed type for the room and on location they said it wasn't available so what is the point of making a reservation if you show up and it is not reserved as requested, the staff were rude in dealing with this so if my stay wasn't for one night i would have checked out immediateky
Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to address your concerns regarding your recent stay. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience you experienced with your room assignment. We have investigated your reservation and can confirm that a request for a room with two queen beds was noted in your file. We truly regret that we were unable to fulfill this request upon your arrival. We would like to take this moment to clarify our policy, which is communicated at the time of booking through all channels, including third-party sites: While we make every earnest effort to honor all guest requests, specific room types and bed configurations—including rooms with two queen beds—are assigned based on availability at the time of check-in and are not guaranteed. This is a standard practice across the hospitality industry to manage our inventory effectively amidst unforeseen circumstances. We also apologize that our staff's communication regarding this matter fell short of our standards. They should have explained this policy with more empathy and professionalism. We are addressing this internally with our team to prevent a recurrence. Although we cannot guarantee room types, we deeply value your business and are disappointed that your stay was compromised. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back and provide a more positive stay in the future.

High parking fees!
Hello Stephen, Thank you for your kind words about our breakfast and prime location near Pier 39! We also hear your feedback on our parking fees. We wish we could offer it for less, but our rates are in line with other secured parking options in this immediate tourist district. We hope the money you saved on transportation by walking to the pier helped offset the cost. We appreciate you staying with us and hope to see you again.

view of an enclosed roof. A/C had no instructions; slept in jacket. rip off "Resort Fee" with no resort!
Dear Jerome, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate your compliments on our location and breakfast offerings. However, we are deeply concerned about the other aspects of your stay and sincerely apologize for the frustrations you encountered. Resort Fee: We understand your disappointment regarding this fee. It is designed to bundle the cost of amenities we provide to all guests, such as high-speed WiFi, 24/7 access to our fitness center with Peloton, concierge desk, in-room coffee, 24/7 lobby coffee/tea, extended parking hours, EV Charging stations, etc. We recognize that the term "resort fee" can be misleading, and we are actively reviewing how we communicate the value of these included amenities to ensure it is clearer to our guests at the time of booking. A/C Unit: We are sorry the instructions for the air conditioning were not available, leading to an uncomfortable night. We will immediately have our team check the unit in your room and ensure all future guests have clear, easy-to-follow instructions. The View: We apologize that your view did not meet expectations. As we have a variety of room types with different views, we are always happy to discuss available options at check-in whenever possible. Your feedback is invaluable to us as it highlights critical areas for improvement. We hope you would consider giving us another chance to provide a much better experience that reflects the true quality of our service.

Verified reviewLocation is phenomenal. Central to most tourist attractions. Walking distance to pier 39. Can park overnight until 6:00 PM next day and avoid the trouble of finding parking when traveling to nearby attractions. Room was clean. Breakfast offering is as expected from Holiday Inn Express. Beds were comfortable.
This particular location is expensive for the value. I would have much appreciated the transparency pricing upfront. There were resort fees that were not included in the original listing.

Verified reviewLocation and breakfast.
Higher price compared to other options. Parking is extra and should be included for the price. First time staying at the hotel, was not aware of valet parking only. The arrival was confusing and the valet attendant did not welcome us or explain the hotel is valet only. There was a lack of communication and direction from staff on arrival. The front desk attendants don't greet you, heads are mostly down. Anyone can walk in and out without a glance. There was a homeless man who peed in the front by the door and nobody gave him a second look.
