Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Netherlands* Check-out day: I had difficulty to enter in the hostel to pick up my bag. I had no more entrance card to scan. Where is the bell? Or...am I supposed to jump around at the windows? ;) * How does it come that you run out of the mugs during the breakfast time? Hostellers have to drink their morning beverage from a tiny, almost like a shot glass... Respectfully, you are a big hostel, but get more mugs or get your staff to clean them. * Some self-closing doors should not be so 'aggressive'. I felt like the door could hit & squeeze me. * My mattress had some sagging/overuse. Are they too old? Or you should consider rotating/pivoting/turning them time to time. * Boston accommodation is just overpriced... Where do you get that pricing from? ;)
* Shower rooms are well done. Thank you! * Breakfast included.

United States of AmericaThe bed frame was a bit noisy, which is not ideal in a shared dorm. The bedroom could also have additional lights (e.g. to read in bed or gather your things in the morning without disrupting others).
Very nice atmosphere and amazing staff; the location was very good, close to the train station but also to the city center; plenty of restaurants nearby; common areas had multiple amenities and there were activities being organized daily.

United States of AmericaThe only downsides are the ones typical of a hostel: 1) you can't being guests back, 2) less privacy (although guests there are very respectful and quiet), and 3) the beds aren't super comfortable (but not uncomfortable).
Excellent location near Boston Common. The hostel is much newer and well-designed compared to others. The kitchen is phenomenal and there are great lounge spaces. Staff are friendly and helpful. Beds are pretty standard but the rooms are definitely above average since 1) the lockers are much better than is often the case and 2) you get a nook/shelf by your bed so you can store stuff there, charge your phone, etc. Bathrooms were clean and great. The free breakfast each morning was surprisingly good. It was better than continental - I was impressed that it had greek yogurt.

FranceThe water in the shower was cold. There were not a lot of good knives in the kitchen to cut vegetables properly.
Lockers are big enough to put a backpack in there. This hostel is in Chinatown close to the subway. The staff was really kind and available. The breakfast is well-stocked and delicious (fruits, cereals, oats, bread, pancakes, etc...). There's something for everyone! This hostel is really great !!

United States of America— obviously it’s harder to sleep in a room with 5 other people, but it can be done with noise canceling AirPods, eye mask, etc
— the cheapest hotels were literally $600/night when I went. I’m grateful that this place exists for $70 — also really nice kitchen / community facilities
