Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThere are lockers, but you would need to bring your own lock, and as far as I could see, there was only one locker per 2-person bunk bed. I don't know that this has anything to do with the hostel staff or owners, but this wasn't very social compared to other hostels I've been to. There seemed to be some solo travelers and some groups (some very large), and I think in two nights, I only saw one instance where two people not from the same group had a conversation. I don't know if that's typical for this hostel. Maybe we all just happened to be introverts.
I've been to more hostels in Europe than in North America, so my basis for comparison might be a little off, but this was by far the biggest and well-equipped hostel I've been to. There's a very large lounge with a kitchen, plenty of bathrooms and showers, and even curtains on the beds. I saw them going through cleaning multiple times a day.

SpainBeds can be a bit more comfy and there is a lot of noise coming from the street. So be aware of that and bring your ear plugs ;)
Location is amazing. It's walking distance to downtown. Also it was nice places to go and visit nearby. I like the relaxation lobby in the second floor. Good to chill after a busy day doing tourism.

GermanyGiven this is the land of lawsuits, it's understandable that they have a liability waiver (though many smaller hostels I stayed in the States don't have it, guess they couldn't afford lawyers, unlike this one). It left a bad first impression nonetheless, as if you went to a restaurant and the first thing they served was a waiver for all food poisoning liabilities. And the way their staff handled it didn't help either. Their reply, when asked some questions, was basically it's what it's, take it or leave it. They lacked the common warm feeling in hospitality service, and were more like bureaucrats - polite enough in interactions, but grudgingly. Their price was comparable to most American hostels I stayed at but that also means it is more expensive than the global rate. Wifi signal in the kitchen area was fine but if your room is far from it then signal strength would drop significantly
I stayed in a dorm and, facilities wise, it was one of the best hostels I stayed at. It was a 10-bed dorm but it was clean and very spacious (other hostels would make it 16 bed). My room has big windows so it gets lots of natural sunlight (but I guess most other rooms won't be similar as mine is at the end of the hallway). Everything wasn't brand new but certainly not dirty and worn out either. The bathroom also looked clean and well maintained. There is a common area with pool tables but not many people there. The location is very convenient for sightseeing as it's in the city center (or downtown as Americans called it) and 5-10 minutes walking for metro/bus stations.

United States of AmericaThe listing said the room would have 2 smart TVs and there wasn't a single TV of any kind in the entire suite. This mattered because we were traveling with a 1 and 3 year old and Grandpa was going to babysit while my husband and I went out at night and we were relying on him being able to play movies on the TV to entertain the kids. We also assumed we could watch the Bucks playoff game so we can back to the room to watch it and couldn't.

CanadaIt’s a great hostel. I liked the free breakfast. The hostel is in the heart of the downtown and all the tourist spots are at a walkable distance. There’s also subway connection near to it. It has a common area where you can gather play games there are charging spots everywhere and the dining area is also very good.

United States of AmericaThere was only one working toilet and shower on my floor for a dorm of 10. While the cost is comparable for the US, it is still expensive for a dorm bed.
Good location for downtown Chicago, with sights and restaurants in close proximity. Clean and comfortable, good breakfast, and with a lovely chill-out area. The free walking tour was also good.

FranceThe first days, the common area in which our rooms was, was extremely hot, I have no idea why but it was fixed after we asked them to. The ladder for the twin beds is extremely uncomfortable in my opinion 🙁
The bathroom was mostly clean and it was shared only between 4 rooms. The beds were pretty comfortable, the location is great, the staff is friendly, the hostel hosts a lot of free activities which is absolutely awesome, the common area is also great and you can use it even after check-out if you've got a flight later in the day, the breakfast was pretty decent.

United States of AmericaI had to change my dates for just a little bit in the last minute due to the flight delay so I asked my friend to tell to staff at the counter and request to not to charge me for the night I couldn't get there. the personnel accepted but charged her card for the full price. This happened while I already had reserved the place for another night and had just asked them to "switch" the dates for me so I wouldn't had to for the night I wasn't there. I contacted costumer service through Booking and they said I should follow-up with the hustle, however, the hustle staff directed me to the Booking too...
breakfast the simplest and ok. coffee and hot water are available for 24/7 which is very good. the dorm mattress are 5 out of 10 for me and honestly it was clean. location also is very great.
