Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesI'm certain I booked a king bed, but when we arrived at 10:30 pm we were given two double beds that were past their prime. Difficult for us.
Location for my Mayo was perfect, noon checkout was helpful, facilities very clean. Everyone was friendly and courteous.

United StatesThe room was small, and when I got there there was a pair of black socks under the chair that were not mine., my microwave wasn't plugged in and it was difficult to get to the outlet to plug it in, and the TV didn't work. I called the front desk about the TV, and they said someone would be right up, but they never came....the TV started working so I assume they had to adjust something on their end to make it work, but I was never notified they had so no idea it had started working until a few hours later. The Lord Essex restaurant downstairs had decent food, but I ordered to pick up, was told it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. I came back a half hour later and had to wait another 45 minutes for it, a total of an hour and half. They never offered to adjust anything for taking so long and the food was cold.
The hotel is beautiful and very nice. Pool and hot tub are amazing with a great view. Room was nice, just very small for almost $200 a night, however the locations was perfect to the mayo clinic and I could easily get to my appointments each day in less than 5 minutes walking. Front desk and housekeeping staff were great.

United StatesAlways having a cold shower. The water temps fluctuate to too hot or too cold. Staying several days and so I have been in different rooms and different floors and always a cold shower. That was uncomfortable. but I need to stay across the street from the hospital.
The staff are wonderful; I really appreciated their care. The Essex is warm and inviting and has a good breakfast.

United StatesThe room was very old and compared to the rooms across the hallway. The bathroom was tiny with no space for any toiletries. I paid extra for a king room when my friend paid less for a double queen bed room and her room was much nicer. The parking situation for your hotel is ridiculous also and not clearly explained on the website. The way the website reads, there will be a parking spot available in your lot for a fee. When in reality that just is not the case. We had to park many blocks away because the hotel lot was always full.
