Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThis isn't a place (Kelly's Island) that is entirely kid friendly. There is a lot of loud restaurants and people. Several wedding parties having a really good time, which is great, but had to explain some things to my 9 year old. The Resort itself is about a 1.25 miles from the ferry, which coming in is fine to get a golfcart, but leaving we had to walk carrying our bags. Just be prepared, prices were also inflated and food was just ok on the island.
This room was spacious and the bed were comfortable. We came with two adults and two children, we liked the pool area as well and spent a good a deal of time there. We did rent a golfcart and visit the the groves, the museum, and several other nature parks.

Nice large two room suite with king bed. Did not use the pull out couch. Fridge was off, but worked. There was a microwave and coffee maker.

United StatesI feel that you should have staff available at the front desk always We had to call several times to a phone number just left at the desk Every time we went into the office for something. We had to extend our stay because we got stuck on the island due to weather. Our keys deactivated and we could not get in our room and nobody was at the front desk. We were finally able to get ahold of someone and get into our room but for the kind of money we paid, you need to have staff.
Always love staying there. It’s beautiful and clean. You just need staff.

United StatesLandscaping!!
We did not even know there was a breakfast. We were not told about it. Also, although the property is beautiful, the pool area was Yeah not well kept. I understand about the mayflies, for sure! I am talking more about the broken equipment, i.e. umbrellas and chairs, and the unkept landscaping.

United StatesAt $500+ for one night, the experience was not worth it. I will not stay again at this property at this price. The property has declined & there wasn’t even water/coffee in the morning at this outrageous price. Additionally, the “confirmation” email from booking.com was blank & there was not any customer service available to confirm the details of our stay. Our room was not ready until 4:30pm & we were asked to leave (by text message) by 11:00.
This is our third time staying at KIVR. There is a noticeable decline in the property management over that time frame. The first time that we stayed at KIVR, it lived up to its name, with beautifully manicured grounds & clean facilities, giving it a resort feel. This year, this was not the same experience..

United StatesThe staff was friendly, but not helpful, especially with regard to the pool. First, at check-in I learned that I had paid way above market for the room. Second, when we arrived, there was a big red sign at the front desk that the pool was closed down by the Erie County Health Department. We did see the pool and it had lots of algae - even some blue-green algae (dangerous!), that must have accumulated over many weeks. The ONLY reason we rented there was because of the pool.
The room was very nice and clean. Parking and location were excellent.

United StatesThis place needs a lot of work. We had been coming here for years and a new owner took over a few years back. The owner increase the rates so high that it was nearly as if it cost the same as going to Europe. We finally could go this year at a semi-affordable price and were disgusted by the facilities. The pool was falling apart and dirty, the hallways were covered in bird poop, the front desk staff had to clear our drains like they were maintenance staff and the rooms had not had a single update. The worst was the landscaping. Ut used to be beautiful and it was nowhere near what it should even be at baseline. This place used to be a gem and now it’s a gross run down hotel. It needs addressed and hopefully more people speak up. The new owner obviously doesn’t realize what he has done to this place as locals depend on its occupancy and it has rooms available all the time - that was never the case back in the day.
Location is always great.

United StatesHot tub was dirty and there was a tampon string floating around. Pool was also not up and running/dirty. Hotel staff was clueless and acted dumb whenever concerns were presented. Noticed multiple visitors also having the same complaints and complaining to the hotel staff as well. The vending machines and ice machine were broken and extremely run down. I was promised I would be able to speak with a manager multiple times with no follow up on their end. Overall, I do not recommend staying at this hotel.
Location was nice and the grounds were pretty. Rooms were also a decent size.

United StatesIt was off season so no one was at the property. The sound on the tv didn’t work and I had to stand on a credenza and reach up to the top of the tv, that was mounted high on the wall, unplug the tv and plug it back in to get the sound to work. A little bit dangerous as far as a falling hazard
Clean and quiet, beautiful setting

United StatesOur stay was over Mother’s Day weekend. The island is not fully open for the season before Memorial Day, so things were really quiet and not a lot of people around. We got to the island early and thought we’d head over to the resort to see about the possibility of early check-in. There was one vehicle in the parking lot and the office door was open so I walked in. There was no one to be found. After checking the email communication I’d received, I saw that I was supposed to get a check-in email at noon on the day of arrival. It was past noon and no email had arrived. No big deal at this point. We were hungry and decided to call the number provided on the way to lunch. After calling, I promptly received an email with the information. All seems well. Around 4:30 pm, we were ready for a break from sightseeing and decided to head back to the room. Check-in is at 4 pm. At this point the office was all locked up and besides a couple of other cars in the lot, there is no other sign of humanity. I went around to the pool side (non-street side) of the room and enter the door code. It didn’t work. I called the number again and after a long time back and forth with the woman on the phone, I finally received a working code. She seemed perplexed that there was no one on site to help me. Also, because there was no one there, we had no way to get actual keys for the room which is how you can enter the room from the parking lot/street side of the room. So, for our entire stay, we had to walk around to the back of the building every time we came back to our room. The Direct TV kept going out while watching. Not sure if it was a bad signal or something with the hardware. The rooms are dated and feel dingy due to the layer of dust in places that show deep cleaning hasn’t happened in an awhile.
It’s Kelley’s Island, so what’s not to like? The location of the resort is convenient and it’s nice that there is a parking lot. The rooms are spacious and the mini-fridge worked well. It was nice to have a larger than average mini-fridge with a working freezer compartment. There is also ample storage space which would be nice for a long stay. There was an ample supply of towels and soap.
