Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaRestaurant wouldn’t substitute sides. Also the breakfast was overpriced for what it was. For that price they could give a little more food.

United States of AmericaJean Georges restaurant was far more casual than we expected.
The lobby bar and mixologist was great. Our waiter at Jean George was friendly and professional. The property oozes luxury. We were passing through and there just one night. Next trip will be longer and include golf - the course looks amazing.

United States of AmericaInconsistency at the front desk. Some people were excellent and helpful and others were not. When we checked in, no one showed us the property map or explained anything about breakfasts etc. The person appeared to be knowledgeable but was very unfriendly. Also they made an error in our booking which they said they would change and then it was not taken care of at check out which resulted in being over charged. It was surprising that after speaking with the manager, they still had it wrong. The kitchen at the restaurant still needs to work out the kinks. We waited for 1 hour for food one morning and the server did not apologize. Eventually the manager took care of it. In general I would say that they are working out some kinks but it is a lovely place.
The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are very large and spacious. Joelle (not sure of spelling) at the front desk is fabulous. Pool area is gorgeous.

United States of AmericaSqueaky clean room
After renovation, it lost all the charming historical family mansion atmosphere. It was white washed, sanitized and lost its charm and history and turned into a just another golf resort. The hotel does not run its own charming gracious restaurant as before but provided an new building for a chain trstaurant Marigold. Some parts are still under construction for instance, tennis courts and club house.

United States of AmericaThe only negative was that housekeeping was holding a loud conversation in the hallway at 7:30 am on a Sunday morning. Other than that, everything was perfect!
The hotel was beyond what we expected! The only real luxury hotel in or around Charlottesville. Exceptional service, gorgeous room with amazing views!

United States of AmericaNo complimentary coffee or tea at any time, despite really pricey rooms and $39 resort fee. Paid $5.47 for a smallish cup of coffee at The Counter. Additionally, a menu of resort activities to choose from in advance or on arrival would provide a better resort experience vs. simply a stay at a nice property.
Everything was amazing, really. The property is impeccably decorated and situated in the Virginia countryside. Dinner food and experience at Marigold was top notch. Tennis lesson with Tristan was really fun. Pool is gorgeous.

location outside hotel is not good. you should have a restaurant inside the hotel. we froze going to meals. also you should have complementary coffee in the lobby with maybe pastries. Having to pay for morning coffee when paying $ 800,00 a night per room is ridiculous.

AustriaStaff needs training. They had no idea if there is a safe in the room and where it might be located nor did they offer to find out. The gym was supposed to open at 6 am and did not. Pool was supposed to open at 7 am and did not. When we asked for assistance with hot air balloon reservations we were told they do not provide concierge services so we should book it ourselves. Car service to airport we were told to call an Uber except when we tried to do so there were no Ubers available in that area. Then we asked for a car service and were told to google it because they do not have a car service recommendation/contact number. Given the caliber of hotel this beyond poor.
Facilities are nice except for the construction which is not managed well.

United States of AmericaThe service was lacking throughout the entire property. From the checkin clerk who never made our requested reservations (for my birthday dinner,) to the bartender who totally ignored us until we moved, the cleaner who made us stand there several minutes while she cleaned the door we needed to get out, the server who gave us dinner but no plates or utensils etc. I could go on and on but you get the point. No smiles, no greetings by staff, everyone seemed to just be there for the paycheck. Maybe to someone who didn't go here when it was an Orient Express wouldn't be bothered, but it's sad knowing there is so much potential not being met.
We have been going to Keswick Hall since it was a Laura Ashley property It has always been a special place for us. The renovation is beautiful and there are so many thoughtful touches particularly in the rooms. The new restaurant is gorgeous and the coffee café a great addition.
