Only 1 elevator in the building. Not enough for whole building

the hotel has very old and thin windows, the building next door has like a 24 air extractor turned on that make the room super super noisy ! Unable to stay actually!

The location in downtown SF isn't the cleanest, safe feeling or friendliest place. The rooms are small, fixtures worn and there was dust piled up in certain areas so not thoroughly cleaned.

Size of a superior deluxe room, the bed was ok but there wasn't much room around the bed.

The location was convenient, hotel character, complimentary coffee and pastries for breakfast, room cleanliness.

I would recommend replacing the carpet, adding a little more counter space in the bathroom, adding a desk lamp, and reading lamps on each side of the bed. The stairs are very narrow, but the elevator worked well and was very fast.

The room was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. It seemed like they had just replaced the mattress. The bathroom was very clean and updated. I especially liked the water station downstairs.

Very old windows, therefore the air conditioning from the roof of the other building was very loud. But they provided us immediately with a better room on our request.

The heating clunked a little in the early hours and water took a while to get warm for showers but I would say to expect this for a building over 100 years old same for the slow lift, the stairs take a bit of work up to the top, the bath was nice but small even for me deeper than other shallow style baths in other hotels though! Mugs in the room would be nice for a boutique style hotel. The main room light is a fan light which was too bright but other lamps fine and a nice mood. The sprinkler was covered with a bag we reported it..

Old building exterior is impressive and tall with rooms corridors in oldy worldly decor but updated lobby areas, quirky design. Comfy mattress and pillows and liked the decor and fixtures of the bathroom traditional period features. The on the go style breakfast works well we enjoyed the pastries thanks! Thank you for offering black tea also. Our room had a slight city view and pool from neighbouring hotel (we stayed there too) and was surprisingly quiet. The fact we are UK guests is not why we stayed though 😄
