We could hear people walking in the room above us. Wish there was cafe latte available for breakfast.

Some guests (a large family group) were very noisy, took over the lounge area and conversed very loudly, basically driving away the other guests who were seeking a quiet area to hang out outside of their room. Staff did not attempt to police this.

bottom floor you can hear every footstep of the people above you. Stay on the top floor if you can.

Location is great. it's a quaint little upscale motel.

The only thing I didn't like was the music outside. The sound of it came into our room while I was reading and trying to relax and I couldn't with the music :( It was distracting and not the music I wanted to hear while on vacation. I would nix it and just play it in the breakfast area.

Breakfast was wonderful! The best part of the stay, however, was the staff. They were all so friendly, professional, and plain fun!

water from New Zealand?! why? cosmetics from France? you have beautiful local amenities within reach, why go for big names? our room wasn’t set up for the kids when we arrived, and breakfast was a bit poor… ran out of pastries and bread 2.5 hours before allocated time ended!

Not well sound-insulated between floors - suspect those upstairs have no idea how much those below can hear! Oddly, though, very little noise travelled between rooms next to each other. Luckily, most guests during our stay were conscious of not being too loud. Very little storage space, could do with bedside tables with drawers and/or a dresser under the TV.

Lovely staff, great location, very comfortable. Particularly enjoyed evenings around the fire pit or in the lounge.

The breakfast was nice but could have been better. Jam and butter etc with the croissant. Ordinary milk for tea (as opposed to Almond milk)

Parking is hit and miss. We weren't far away (and it was free!!) but had to drag suitcases up a big hill.

Innkeeper was exceptional, happy hour fantastic, lovely room, cute breakfast box, tea, coffee and water throughout the day and a great location.

Would be nice to have suitcase racks to lay your suitcase on instead of the floor. Nightstands would help aose.

No refrigerators in rooms or AC (normal for Carmel - but good to remember in the summer when it can get a bit uncomfortable at night if your windows are closed.) Windows don't have screens on them so we were a bit hesitant to leave them open to cool down the room when we weren't there so it took a bit after retruning from dinner to get the room down to a decent temp. To be fair I visited while pregnant so the heat bothered me more than most. We had a few issues with our room being cleaned adequately, forgotten towels, missing cup replacements, etc. but they were quickly rectified when brought to the attention of the reception staff. Normally things that wouldn't bother us, but with this being a pricer option in the area we felt it wasn't quite at the level we expected or recalled from our prior stay a few years back.

Great location, wonderful staff and very cute rooms. It's a quieter location without all the foot trafic of some of the other inns, but still very close to everything you come to Carmel to enjoy! The breakfast baskets are a nice Covid friendly touch that we enjoyed in the mornings as well.

the bathroom door was a little broken and the AC wasn’t working, the room was a little warm for our taste.

we liked the separate spaces for living and bedroom, it was a great relaxing layout. the fireplace was cozy and the beds were super comfortable. loved the Malin and Goetz amenities. the happy hour with snacks and drinks was lovely and the breakfast food was delicious.
