Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesSmall rooms - no drawers. Can be noisy but it didn’t bother me.
Very cute upgraded motor lodge. The room was small but new, clean and neat. We stayed for 4 nights which was a little too long for this hotel since there were only a few hangers and no drawers. The location is excellent. The champagne breakfast was delicious. I loved the local marmalade’s, bread and granola. The 1 minute eggs were also a nice touch. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I’d recommend staying here for a one or two night getaway.

This is a very nice hotel. The bathroom is so clean that you couldn't even find any watermark on the wall, the glass door and the sink. The moment you walk into the room you would feel relaxed and comfortable. the staffs were very friendly too. Wish I can come back and stay few more days in the future. Thank you!

everythign about this stay was so charming. the decor is stunning, and although the rooms are smaller than I expected, they clearly thought of everything. What is missed in the size of the room is made up 10x with everythign else the hotel offers. great location, on site parking, a fabbbbulous brekfast, welcome drinks. And Miley (Mylee**) at the desk was AMAAZING!!! would happily stay again

United KingdomI thought the price was a little steep considering it really is an upmarket motel
Beautifully decorated hotel right in the heart of Carmel. The staff on the front desk were very attentive and greeted us with sparkling wine on arrival. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully designed. We had a lovely nights sleep, despite the noise from the road outside. We didn't take advantage of the breakfast but nice to have it on offer.

United StatesThe parking lot is small-- we didn't have any trouble, but if you are arriving late at night, you may have difficulty parking. The lot was always full by about 7 PM. The breakfast setup was a little weird, and we only went once because of this even though the food was good. There's very little seating, only 2 tables inside and then 6 or so tables outside. It was busiest around 10 AM, so maybe go earlier if you want to get a table, because people also tended to linger. The nook where the breakfast is served is very small, so if multiple people were there it was crowded and took quite a while to serve yourself. The coffee and mimosas/champagne are great, but the beverage service was slow. We had finished eating before we got our coffee. If you stuck around long enough at breakfast, they left a tip envelope on the table, which I thought was a little odd and kind of tacky.
Overall, we loved Le Petit Pali! The location is great and made walking downtown easy. It's a motel vibe, but very updated and has a very cute aesthetic. The room was comfy, if a little small with our big dog. We booked our stay very last minute, so there wasn't a lot available, but we'd probably opt for a bigger room next time. Everything in the room was clean and seemed brand new. The Diptyque bathroom amenities were such a nice touch. The fun bonus touches like complimentary sparkling rosé on arrival, and the daily cookie delivery, just made our stay feel even more special. I found myself really looking forward to the cookies! The breakfast was delicious, loved the local pastries and the La Fermière yogurt. I saw some other reviews say that they were just refilling the La Fermière containers with other yogurt, but they seem to have fixed this because these were unopened new containers. Yum! And, of course we loved that the hotel was dog friendly. There is a pet fee (flat $140 for your stay) so just be mindful when booking. They have a weight limit of 35 pounds on their website, but I called in advance and they take bigger dogs as long as they are well-behaved.
