How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Had to cancel our reservation r/t flooding in Mankato- asked hotel staff to send me a copy of the cancellation to list on my event insurance- they said no because it was all handled by booking.com

It felt old and a little run down. Most hotels have streaming ability so you can sign in to Netflix or Hulu. This just had cable. The TV was small. The coffee maker was in a drawer. The sink was dirty.
The staff was very friendly. The pool was available. Breakfast was good.

The toilet doesn’t flush well and the bathtub drips all night, it’s very annoying.

The shower was not secured to the wall and had to use a wash cloth in order to take a bath. The water temperature was difficult to get the correct temp also.

The tub shower needs to be replaced or resurfaced.

The pool was really cold, concrete around the pool and hot tub is cracked and chipping, have to pay 10$ per person to swim if you were to have anyone visit(children included), and our hair dryer was broken so when we turned it on it sounded like it was going to explode. The front desk women was helpful and got us a new one quickly.
Beds were extremely comfortable. Rooms were clean.

We could have chosen a better time. Mankato was very busy and due to demand, the prices were higher than normal.
The hotel, while basic and showing a bit of wear, was kept immaculate. We found especially the housekeeping staff to be very friendly.

It was 100% one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. I compare it to a worn down hotel in Wyoming that you would only stay in if the highways were closed and there was no where else to stay. Outside the hotel was dirty, weeds, bad parking lot, tools/supplies for some sort of construction, leaning on the exterior. Inside, it smelt like curry, the husband and wife were rude and not accommodating. The pool was ice cold and tiny (the pictures online are very deceiving). Carpet was worn, the rooms looked like they hadn't been renovated since the 80's/90's. Rooms, halls, and hotel in general smelt like a combo of musty, plus curry, plus sewage. Breakfast was a joke. Room was filthy, and air conditioning in room didn't work. I have never left a bad review, but I think it is important to let everyone know the reality. True bait-and-switch from what is offered online and what the reality is of the hotel. RUN!!!!!!
The proximity to downtown Mankato was the only thing I can find positive about this hotel.

Language barrier with the staff. Staff was very rude even combative. The entire hotel smelled very strongly of Indian food. Under construction.

They don’t have what you need, the staff are never at the front desk. You have to call them. They enter your room without asking for nonemergency reasons. And they do not do what they say they’re gonna do. I’ve stayed at 200+ hotels and this was the worst state I have ever had.

Very old building - no elevator - breakfast was Eh. But enough and thankful there was something. It looks a bit shabby and and the grounds are not very nice.
They are in renovation mode - so they are turning an old building and making it new. Thankfully I had a new renovated room.

Everything was perfect except that even they say that have 24 hours desk service, they don’t. I arrived around 3:00 am , and had to wait til 5:00 am to check in.
