How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe kitchen and the apartment overall was completely stocked. We found everything we needed. The living room is decorated so pretty and chic. Having an exclusive parking space was great.
The lightning in the bedroom is weak. Also the bed is a bit old I guess. Even though it was comfortable, it was squeaking. And the windows are not great, you could hear every sound from outside. But that’s only the bedroom.

Verified reviewPerfectly located in a quiet street but close to the town. Many gorgeous beaches close by, and driving to most spots on the island very convenient. Welcoming hosts, with a little box of local snacks welcoming us, which was lovely. The flat is spacious, comfortable and is very well equipped, including anything you might need for the beach. Laundry room super handy, affordable and easy to use. Loved the little balcony for breakfasts too. Safe looking parking spot, never had issues with someone else using it.
We weren’t fans of glass louvered windows in the bedroom, as there were a few very windy days when we could feel the draught through closed windows in bed. However, this window type seems super common in Maui. When the wind is low it must be a handy way to ventilate throughout. Otherwise really amazing place to stay, we would come back.

Verified reviewThe full kitchen was well stocked. Both the living room and bedroom had a big screen TV. The bathroom was adequate and the king size bed was comfortable. There is a good size pool on the premises for swimming. Also, there was beach accessories including boogie boards, Snorkel and mask, Styrofoam noodles for floating, and beach towels. The host is very kind and helpful with any Questions.

The check in was very stressful. we arrived at 0200am and still had no idea how to get into the unit
We're sorry you feel this way and why you would say you had no idea how to get in. We sent you check-in information beforehand and since you arrived so late we also sent you the code for the front door. Not sure what is stressful about that other than maybe your flight issues which are certainly not on us. Plus, we came over the next morning to offer a proper check-in to familiarize you with the place.

Verified reviewVery well equipped, even down to esky & beach chairs. Only 5-8 minute walk to a number of places to eat or grab a drink. Lots of nice little touches that made it feel very homely. Communal laundry which requires an app to use but easy to sort this out. We were a bit apprehensive when we first pulled up as the complex appears a bit dated but turned out to be a very nice complex and area. Didn’t use the pool area but looked nice with a barbecue area which we didn’t use either. Groceries available close by.

Verified reviewIn terms of location, close to everything in Kihei and excellent beach close by. Internally, the apartment was roomy and lacked for nothing, a well-equipped kitchen and extra-wide king size double bed. Also, a BBQ and swimming pool in the complex, plus app-operated shared laundry facilities. We stayed three nights, and the hosts had furnished the apartment so well, it felt just like home.
Nothing to signal, would certainly stay again.

Verified reviewthis is one comfortable apartment. we are close to the beach and lots of eating and stores. I cooked breakfast here every morning and had all I needed, including good coffee. good air conditioners satisfied this travelers from northern climes. we were completely satisfied.

Verified reviewThe unit was cutely decorated with nice furniture and tasteful beachy art - such a nice touch! The patio was so wonderful and screened from the road by vegetation. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking tools, coffee ingredients, etc. The location was also wonderful! We could walk to many restaurants and parks in Kihei but still felt “off the main drag” and away from the crowds at the resorts. This place absolutely exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend!
Our only problem that is likely totally out of the host’s control is that the units seem to have very thin walls, and the window slats above the bed open up right onto the breezeway- so we had one neighbor that stayed up late playing music that kept us awake, and every door slam in the breezeway was audible in the bedroom. I’m a light sleeper though- others might not notice or mind!

We ask every guest to let us know if any neighbor is making noise that disturbs their stay so we can ask the manager to go and tell them to turn it off or down which he will immediately do. Our complex has mandatory quiet hours between 10pm and 8am. If you would have let us know during your stay, instead of after it, in a review, we could have helped you out! We can't fix something we don't know about.

Verified reviewGreat location and a great value. The owners thought of everything for the unit. Free parking and lots of little extras like coffee and snorkels. it felt like a beach unit because if how it was decorated. The king size bed was comfortable too. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. An easy 20 minute drive to the best beaches. I would recommend and stay again. If this property is available, definitely book it.
The only thing I would tell other travelers is that the birds start chirping at 6:30am and it’s very clear inside the unit. But that didn’t bother us too much bc of our sleep schedule and was nice to wake up to. But if you like to sleep in and you are a light sleeper; if the birds are there you will know it.

Verified reviewThe location is very good. You have a very beautiful beach in walking distance as well as a supermarket. The apartment was very good equipped (kitchen, towels, beach utensils). Communication was very good and we always got quick replies from them. The laundry room can be used and you can pay the washer ($1.50) and dryer ($1) by phone, very convenient as you don’t need quarters. The owners keep shower gel and such things for the next guest, which we liked a lot!
The bathroom rug was pretty dirty and old. The dishwasher smelled and needed a deeper cleaning. The apartment was on the 1st level (ground floor) and therefore pretty dark inside. The balcony was a bit dusty/ sandy and we haven’t used it much due to this.
