Building is somewhat rundown. Mattress had a watermelon size dip in the middle. I kept rolling into it. Other than that the mattress was comfortable.

The walls clearly need to be scrubbed down and cleaned from dry boogers and other dry liquids. Bathroom sink knocking noise after a minute and a half of hot water running. there is caulking needed around the tub shower area the elevator could use a refresher, buttons need to be cleaned. The air conditioner on clearly has an open and exposed space exposing outside. Mold/mildew smell the parking lot with too much activity and people sitting in chairs right by the entryway of hotel door smoking their cigarettes. I have asthma cigarettes is not for everybody.

The hallway on the third floor smelled and looked like it had been a smoking floor in the past. It had not been painted in a very long time--dingy and dark. The carpet looked below standard--worn and dirty--depressing.

The bed was very comfortable; the staff was nice, and the room and bath were clean.

Actually the property was VERY hard to find, because it is located BEHIND a paint store, and behind Wendy’s and you cannot see it from the street. I arrived about midnight to check in. There are NO signs on the street and NO arrows to point to it. In the daytime and if you are looking in that direction, you can see the hotel from Independence Road. Once you turn, you CANNOT see it from the MintHill-Matthews road.

Easy access to get in and get out… with parking in front and behind.

I have stayed at several hotels in my adult lifetime and I have almost always had to have a credit card on file or pay cash for a ‘REFUNDABLE’ security deposit. However, my credit card has never once been charged that security deposit unless something in the room was damaged or broken. Which it hasn’t been. This property charged my card the deposit and I’m STILL waiting on it to be refunded and it’s been over 24 hours since my check out. Not pleased with that all all.
