Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesNo water or coffee machine in the room, at evening I called front desk and they bring 4 bottles of water, but at morning (about 8 am) I called to ask a cup of coffee (there was a note on a desk if you need coffee to the room just call front desk) and they declined cause there was no body to bring it to me. There is a bad smell in the room, prime something old
We came to DC at morning and called up the hotel to ask if we can checked in early and they give us the room without extra charge, so we came at 9:30 So appreciate it! It made our trip

United StatesMy room was a very long walk from the lobby. The building is basically a large square with very wide corridors; my room was close to an exit to the outside, but not as convenient to get back to the lobby where free morning coffee was served (no coffee maker in the room). That wasn't a real problem but might be of interest to potential guests. The bathroom had large-sized shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles and a bar of soap, which was fine, but also a small tube of lotion that I honestly could not manage to get any lotion out of despite shaking it vigorously. Maybe a large bottle of lotion with a pump might be nicer? Otherwise no complaints!
The Kimpton Hotel Monaco is located in the Penn Quarter area of Washington, DC, surrounded by restaurants, museums, theaters and a major sports arena. It's a beautifully restored historic building with a very cozy (and popular) lobby, and a well-reviewed restaurant and bar. It's a very short walk from the hotel to the DC subway system (the Metro) and the area is quite walkable. The room I stayed in (an essential queen room) was pretty spacious and stylishly furnished, with a desk and chair, an upholstered chair, a bench at the foot of the queen bed, and a large wardrobe with full-length mirrors, a small refrigerator and a safe. There were 2 comfy bathrobes in the closet. The bathroom had a tub-shower combination and was scrupulously clean. The room had various lighting options (floor lamp, desk lamp, bedside lamps, etc.), many electrical outlets and nice large windows.

United StatesOur room window was eye level with people sitting at the bar. It was a little unnerving. But obviously that was because of the particular room we ended up in.

United StatesYou have to ask for the coffee maker as opposed to it just being in the room.
The building itself is very cool , it’s an old post office. It is directly across from this Smithsonian, American art gallery, and the Washington Arena a block and a half from Chinatown about five blocks or so from the convention center ,very nice location. Our room has a lion head bas relief Over the bed, which is kind of different!!!! Shower was nice and strong. My deluxe king had a little desk with a lamp and a nice roommate closet. There is a folding mirror in the bathroom for make up and nice toiletries. The bathrobes did not exist but there is a yoga mat . The room is very quiet, even though we’re on the first floor Facing seventh Street.

United StatesIt’s pet friendly but there should be some information upon booking letting guests with pups know, there is no grass anywhere around hotel so these suburbia pups can be confused learning how to relieve themselves on the street. The pull out sofa was not flat and was not possible to sleep on so my son had to end up sleeping on the couch without pulling the bed out so that was inconvenient for a 5 night stay.
Location proximity to everything was awesome. Bed was comfy. Shower was spacious, hot water, good pressure. I couldn’t bring bowls and bed for my puppy because we flew, so the hotel brought those to the room for us.

United StatesI was surprised at the parking fee. Based on the website, I expected a $40 daily fee. I was not thrilled by this charge but planned for it. When I checked out I was then assessed a parking fee of about $60 or $65 per night.
Check in was excellent and the room was nicer than I expected. Food at the restaurant was good and had a fairly extensive menu.

United Statesnot a place to have your young children at dark, 9 o’clock! i guess you could say that about most big cities, but walking a couple blocks away is not an option. exercise room was cramped and needed some updates to the machines.
in a prime spot for nearby places to dine, coffee, shop, entertainment. whimsically took in a Capitals hockey game which was only a block away. communal bathrooms were gorgeous and property was clean.
