We loved our stay at Chapter. The check in process was very smooth, the staff was nice. The place was very clean. We’d love to come back there someday.

There was a lady in the communal area talking until very late night/early morning, which made it difficult to sleep. I've no idea if she was on the phone or talking to herself. If they have cameras, this should have been noted and she should have been told to keep quiet.

Really nice hostel. I liked the fact that there seemed to be 3 different parts to it all with their own codes to enter. The dorm i was in was spacious. There were plenty of showers and restrooms, so I never needed to wait. Was great i could leave my case on the last day and use the communal areas until I needed to leave SF. Good location near lots of bus stops.

Maybe the kitchen could be larger. But it’s clearly a renovated home so they have done a lot with the space they have.

BEST VALUE in SF. Very private bunks - each bed is really just a big box with a window thru which you enter. You can block it with a curtain that will block out the light from your bunk so no one can tell you’re in bed or not. So clean.

Although you are pretty close to public transportation the attractions are kind of fare away.

Big shared rooms. Private toilets. The lounge and small kitchen area with a water filling station. Free body wash. The convenient check in. The free laughs storage. They also booked me in a female dorm although I booked the less expensive mixed dorm one. There is also a Whole Foods not fare away.

The common space is a bit small, especially during busy times like breakfast or dinner. There is not enough space to sit.

Clean space, comfortable bed, and very safe ! Big bonus for the facilities like the fridge, microwave, water machine, cafe, tea, tv, ... The showers were also really good !

I requested male room but they put me mixed room with male and female and it is bad because my religion forbids this. They didnt have any space to change me even if the reservation was for all male room.

Cleanliness wasn't great - piled up garbage, empty hand towels in the bathrooms, etc. Pretty good overall, though.

The location is fabulous for public transit and sightseeing. The bunks provide great privacy and are comfy, and the kitchenette is stocked with dishes, utensils, and free tea and coffee. Check in/out can be done virtually and baggage storage is free, making this place really convenient for solo traveling.

Kitchen: 1. No paper towels in kitchen. I spilled something in the kitchen, then I had to fetch paper towels from a restroom to clean it up. 2. A couple of microwave buttons didn't work as expected. Had to work it out a different way. 3. Plastic plates have too many scratches. I don't wanna eat microplastics with my food. You may want to replace those with some better material. 4. Kitchen faucet is too tight. Also the direction in which the faucet knob is rotated to turn it on is opposite to our intuition. It is clockwise. Showers: 4. No wash basin in shower area. 5. No shampoo and conditioner in showers. Are we supposed to use the same bodywash for hair as well? Room: 6. Bunk beds can shake a bit when people are changing positions or moving. Disturbs the sleep. Can feel like an earthquake. Bunk beds can use fixtures with the wall to keep them from shaking. Also the beds can use a partition between the top and bottom compartments. As of now, mattress of the top compartment lies on some bars. But the top and bottom compartments can be fully separated by a metal sheet or plywood to isolate both of them completely. You don't wanna smell farts of another person sleeping either above or below you.
