Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesYou may not bring friends or relatives to visit..only those registered are allowed...for me not an issue but might be for you ! Fine and eviction could result and the security camera would know if you brought in a friend....probably to keep the rural apartments very secure from the bad guys...it may sound extreme but uh it made me feel very safe..
Modern, spacious, country setting, quiet, singing frogs, memory foam mattress, large fridge.reverse osmosis water, relaxing rural setting, I used stool for enjoying the balcony,, excellent security ,video camera for parking area and rental , 10 minutes to Pahoa and 18 minutes to Hilo, ceiling fan, we'll stocked with towels, pans, beach towel, rainforest on both sides..I would return here, and very good price for a furnished studio apartment of this size

United StatesVery great value and not too far from tourist attractions. The place was clean and stocked with all the necessities. Grocery stores were about a 10 minute drive, Volcano National Park a 40 minute drive, and around 20 minutes to Hilo Downtown area.

United StatesWe didn't like the late check in at 4pm. It would've been more convenient to check in at 12pm and checking out later than 10am would've been better too. The ironing board wouldn't stay up on the stand. It kept falling, making it flat and harder to iron.
We were able to come and go as we please. It was quite and felt like we were the only ones there. The code for the gate and studio worked out well.

IcelandI wish there was a little trail and a covered sitting area on the property. You are either in your room or in your car leaving. It would be nice to have a little area to walk around when not going out.
The code for entry was nice. One less item to keep track of.

CanadaI have now uploaded screenshots of the text messages exchanged between the landlord and me, as well as photos taken when we checked out to demonstrate that we left the room in immaculate condition. However, the landlord is making false claims that the room was left messy. It is clear that he lacks credibility and is unlikely to remain in business for long. Additionally, during our five-day stay, there were only two guests, ourselves and a local resident who lived alone. We only saw the resident once since he worked the night shift and slept during the day. We had a friendly conversation with him, and he even recommended places to visit. So, where is the alleged complaint about us coming from? Furthermore, the resident informed us that the landlord's mother was temporarily managing the apartment while he was away, and she entered our room every day without our consent. We were perplexed as they did not offer cleaning services, and so we carried our valuables with us every day. There were no other guests during our stay, and certainly no children. The claim that we were speeding is ridiculous and baseless. The landlord is lying. We are very cautious when driving in unfamiliar areas and never exceed the speed limit, even in Canada. He is fabricating lies and even claiming that he is not the landlord, but that his mother is his employee. It's absurd. He has even made up stories about contacting our other hosts to request a refund, but we challenge him to provide evidence. It is clear that he is lying since he has no knowledge of of our other hosts. He claims to have video evidence, so he should provide it to prove his allegations. If he fails to produce any evidence, then he is slandering us, and his actions will harm his reputation and business in the long run.
the location is no good. The location is very remote and far from the tourist attractions. To begin with, the apartment was situated in a secluded area, and it took us a considerable amount of time to locate it. Furthermore, the landlord was impolite and unhelpful. Despite the fact that soap was listed as an amenity on the website, when we requested more soap, he only gave us two small pieces and told us to take care of the rest ourselves. We required soap for our entire five-day stay, but he insisted on giving us only two small pieces and rudely asked us to leave when we persisted. After multiple requests, he reluctantly provided us with four small pieces of soap. It is disappointing that he is both stingy and rude in his business dealings. Although everyone can afford bar soap, it would be more convenient for guests if they are provided with it as they may not have the time to go shopping for it. We traveled all the way to Hawaii with great anticipation of having a relaxing and enjoyable time, and the warm hospitality of the Hawaiian people had already left a positive impression on us. However, the landlord of the apartment we rented was extremely inhospitable and discourteous, causing our entire trip to be ruined. We are sharing our experience with others in the hopes of preventing them from encountering a similar situation.
