Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWe did have some minors issues with the hotel, especially given the high price tag that came with staying there. Our shower had very poor water pressure and I noticed some small stains on the couch and chair in the room. There were three stairs leading to our room that we had to navigate with our baby’s stroller- I’m sure it’s just from the hotel being on the older side, but maybe something for the hotel to consider if they ever renovate. We also got coffee and breakfast from the on site bakery and were pretty disappointed in the quality of the coffee- the cold brew was very watery (but the cinnamon bun was phenomenal!) I was surprised the hotel didn’t offer complimentary coffee in the morning like so many other hotels do- it can be such a small but appreciated gesture.
We booked the Newport Harbor Island Resort somewhat last second before our Folk Festival weekend. Overall we really enjoyed our stay! The location is unbeatable with gorgeous views of the water and bridge, especially from the outdoor bar and pool area. The pool looked so fun and clean and we regret not having the time to go for a swim! We had drinks and dinner on site a few times and had a great time- good food and drinks and the staff were always very lovely and personable. Our rooms were comfortable, cozy beds, good AC, clean facilities. One of the biggest bonuses for us was the complimentary water taxi to and from the fort for the festival- that was definitely a game changer. We noticed many other services available to guests (some with an extra fee, some complimentary) like a shuttle to and from downtown Newport, bike rental, yoga and Pilates classes right on the lawn facing the water, and a bunch more. We definitely plan to go back so we can take advantage of all the resort has to offer.

Superior outdoor living section! The view was fabulous and we enjoyed the outdoor seating with fire pits. The service in the pool area was superb.

United StatesI didn't like the distance of the room from the front of the hotel and having to pass through business conventions with large groups of congregating people to get to/from the room. Also, the resort is a disaster for older people. My mom is 87 years old, and it was very difficult to get around the facility. Parts of the resort were not open (restaurant in particular) because the end of April isn't considered in season. The bar served food, but the loud DJ made it intolerable.
The bakery. The blueberry scones and espresso were awesome. The lady working there was very friendly.

United StatesI didn’t like the fact that we were given a room next to one that was being refurbished. We heard drilling and hammering all morning and throughout the day. The location wasn’t ideal, and the constant loud humming from the LG data storage networks or generators near the window of our room were loud. Additionally, $420 was unexpectedly added to the final bill if you’re using Bookings. We tried to use the luggage cart for our luggage, but we were told by the Bellman/Valet that management didn’t want guests to transport their own luggage. He preceded to tell me that the manager wanted him to take the luggage cart away from me. As I tried to get it into the elevator, he took it from me. I was shocked. We ended up taking our luggage down ourselves without the cart.
We liked the fact that the facilities had so much to offer. We did not have time to enjoy them, but it was nice to know that they were available.

United StatesI was turned off by the $35 overnight parking fee and the $6 coffee. This is a very expensive resort and it would be nice to have parking included with your stay.
The Newport Harbor Island Resort is absolutely beautiful inside! Our room was very comfortable and cozy and had a great view of the water looking out to Newport. The hotel is very tastefully decorated and smells wonderful. The indoor pool is amazing! The water was at least 80degrees and felt like a bath! We had breakfast in the torpedo room and it was delicious! The outside grounds are very nice and you can walk to the lighthouse! The views can’t be beat and the outside fire pits are lovely!

United StatesAll the extra “fees” resort fee and parking fee. Also had to wait around because I did my reservation through Booking and it didn’t transfer causing an extra long check in time.
Property was nice, fire pits and plenty of spaces. Unfortunately being it was off season not all was useable. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Beds were also comfortable.

United StatesThe staff's lack of sincerity: I made a reservation for Ocean View, and when I picked up a room like 😡 warehouse and raised the issue, he responded to me with an impression and annoyance, saying, "Booking is the problem."
