Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesBeautiful property and the host, Troy, was very nice and helpful. Big bonus that he had beach towels for guests to borrow if needed. It was nice being able to stay between Kona and Hilo. Would consider staying again on our next visit!

CanadaNothing!
The facility was clean and spacious with everything advertised PLUS lots of extras including coffee with sugar and creamer as well as lots of beach towels, chairs, coolers and bags, snorkel gear, and boogie boards. Troy was super friendly and full of great information about how to best explore the island. The location felt safe and was a great home base close to several beaches, hikes, Volcanoes National Park, and Kona (you will need a vehicle). The terrain and view were especially “Big Island” and perfect for sunset and star gazing.

United KingdomNothing at all.
A lovely quiet location but not too far off the main road with great views of the ocean. Spotlessly clean with loads and loads of nice extra touches like dressing gowns, flip flops, snorkel gear and a hot tub. Troy met us to explain everything and gave us lots of helpful information more of which was included in the comprehensive information folder provided which gave us ideas of places to visit and where we could eat out. We wished we had stayed longer but it was fully booked.

location good for exploring the southern part of Big Island. we had two rooms and our bathroom, kitchen and hallway is shared with the owners but they really try to make it seem like you're alone there..though if you need them they are very nice and helpful, rooms were clean, there was a terrace at our own disposal, nice having dinner outside. it has a country feel to it and a 1 min drive there is a great cafe place on the main road

AustraliaWell - everything in Hawaii currently seems expensive, but that is substantially the product of an unfavourable $ exchange rate
Our stay coincided with the passage of Hurricane Hone. Lots of wind and rain, and a few hours without power, but we were so comfortable it was an adventure to enjoy. Spent much of the storm watching the weather from the protected deck.

United StatesCant think of anything. If anything, all the properties were huge so you could say it was a bit of driving to the property from the route 11 but it wasn't really an issue for me.
We were the only guests while there, so pretty much had the whole house to our selves (except Troy's bedroom).. :) Had access to the big kitchen, dining area and the spacious living room with huge TV. Hot tub was available outside but we didn't have a chance to use it. The section we stayed had two separate bedrooms if you are traveling with another couple, but shared bathroom down the corridor. But privacy was no issue at all. Troy even let us use snorkeling gear so we didn't have to go rent some. The property was on the slope of Mauna Loa so you could see the wide view of the ocean. Perfect.

United KingdomNothing to complain about.
Extremely friendly and welcoming host. Lovely, clean house. Great location for exploring the south part of the island. The double room is very private with its own entrance, and you get a private bathroom, which is a short walk down a shared corridor.

United StatesThe shower was an outside shower with no place to hang clothes and no privacy. When I came in at night, I could not see to get to the door. The lighting was poor and none to illuminate the outside door..
Troy was very attentive and a good host. The room was clean and comfortable. If you are just looking for a place to rest, it is good. The location was good for me as I was visiting people in Oceanview.
