How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The Orchard Hotel was perfect for us close to the Columbian counsel, whi h we had business with. It was a short walk from the Larkspur ferry terminal. Close to China town and othe great eateries. We would stay here again

No parking but I knew that before I booked. Just a convenience I wish they offered. There is a parking structure a block away, but it’s completely self service.
Property was super clean, staff was very amicable and efficient! Excellent communication!

The hotel is clean, comfortable and quiet. It is right beside the gates to Chinatown and in walking distance of Union Square and a BART station. One of the Hop on Hop off bus ride stops is by the hotel which was handy. The staff were ok. Not super welcoming but they were efficient. We will be staying there again at the end of our visit to the States.

Didn't like the in-room coffee, but thanks anyway!
Lovely peaceful hotel between Union Square and Chinatown in walking distance to a lot of sights and near public transportation. My room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The bathroom was really nice with a good shower. The staff were always very friendly. Very good value for money, as there were no additional resort fees etc.

It would have been nice to have a water station on our floor, and I would have preferred breakfast to be included in the price, but these are minor drawbacks.
I really liked the location of the hotel — it was conveniently close to cable car and bus stations, which made getting around easy. The room was very clean, quiet, and perfectly sized for a two-night stay for two people. The mattress was extremely comfortable, and we slept very well. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious too. Overall, a peaceful and pleasant stay - I’d definitely consider staying here again!

We noticed the hot water is a bit hard to regulate in the shower.
The room was very clean and quiet, staff is very friendly, polite and professional, the bed was comfortable and the location is unbeatable! Would stay here again in my next trip to SF.

The room was nice and spacious. Had a nice quiet stay while there. The hot water came quickly which is quite rare in hotels. Purified water (shared dispenser) was also provided, which was a pleasant surprise (and also delicious). The furniture/room/lobby were nicely refurbished, and I could only tell that the hotel has been around based on the elevator design. The hotel was also very convenient (near Montgomery station, walkable to Powell/Union Square, Embarcadero), and right before the steep hills (Chinatown).

The one thing that I didn't love was that I got locked out of my room twice, both times in my pajamas while going to the 7th floor to get water. I was told that the key cards are sensitive so I tried to make sure they weren't touching any credit cards, but they would still not work, which was not the best experience.
The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean! I also appreciated the free upgrade. Additionally, the staff was super friendly and was always available if I had questions, opened the door when I left, greeted me, etc.

The bedroom was a little cramped, but mitigated by large communal areas to sit in.
Beautiful rural location just 30 minutes from Yosemite National Park. Lovely family run hotel with a warm welcome. Great home-cooked breakfasts.
