We requested a mini fridge in each room and were not told when we checked in that would be an extra charge. The charge should be disclosed at check in and should not be added to the room charge unless the customer consents to the charge. Also, breakfast is not provided on Mondays because the restaurant is closed. We paid an additional $52 for breakfast and were told at check in this would be refunded. I have requested that booking.com refund these charges ASAP.

The hotel was quaint and in a terrific location. Clean, comfortable and quiet rooms. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I understand that this is Palo Alto, but it is difficult to understand paying the rate that I did for a shared (and to be fair, generally clean) bathroom.

Comfortable hotel in a good location and one of the few places in Palo Alto that allowed a very late night booking and check-in far after midnight.

Probably the only thing i didn't like was the shared bathroom, but I was aware of this when i booked, so no blame on the hotel!

The location is great - easy to find, plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, train station just a few minutes away. The team was awesome - very friendly and hospitable!

There was no easy access to USB-powered charging for my device. There were also some difficulties with water pressure on occasion.

The bed was comfortable, with clean sheets and towels. The room was slightly noisy. Good elevator access and was a reasonable size. The free coffee for breakfast was good, with good free hot-chocolate too.

As others have said, there isn't any AC, but I found myself comfortable with the window open and the fan they provide. The room was on the smaller side; it was fine for me but I think with two it would be pretty tight.

The property itself is old but that gives it a lot of charm, including an elevator you open and close yourself with a sliding door. The staff were all very friendly and the location is fantastic: right in the middle of things in Palo Alto, very walkable. The shared bathrooms were a bit of a concern at first but I didn't run into any problems with them. They were all clean and well-kept and I didn't have to wait at all. The provided robe and slippers were very comfortable and a nice touch.

Dorm style bathroom makes me question if I will stay here again. I felt safe, however, as a woman getting up at 3am to use the public bathroom felt unsafe and so I may choose a hotel with a bathroom in the room next time. Overall, there were no concerns or issues.

I knew that there would be a dorm style shared bathroom, although I hadn't appreciated fully how it might affect my stay. While very clean and bright, it did make the stay less comfortable. There is a separate bathroom and separate shower room. We paid what was likely full price for the room (in admittedly a busy period) so the value for money was less than ideal.

The location was fantastic - downtown Palo Alto, near train station and plenty of dining options. The rooms are spacious and clean. Staff is helpful.

No AC so the rooms are very hot. Some rooms have bathrooms but some are shared bathrooms/showers in the hallway. Hotel itself is pretty cool but nothing special. Great area so can walk to great restaurants and Stanford campus. Would not come back here because of the lack of AC and the very basic room setup.

The parking situation is unfortunate, as the only option for parking is public parking, and you have to purchase a day parking pass. Not a big deal but the communication on where to park was somewhat confusing, leading me to worry that I’d get a ticket if I parked in a garage overnight with my parking pass (we got up early to leave at 8 so I don’t know if I would’ve gotten a ticket if I had parked there longer). I’m not sure of the logistics of staying here multiple nights if you drove to town parking-wise. It seems like you can’t repark in the same garages so you’d have to move your car to different garages each day? Also having to buy a pass for every day is a bit much. Just having to move your car around every day is pretty inconvenient. Ultimately if you don’t have a car to worry about the stay is perfect.

I really appreciated that the older aesthetics of the lobby are maintained beautifully, rather than stripping away its history and trying to modernize an already beautiful 100 year old room. The bedrooms themselves are modernized but in a tasteful and comfortable way. We got a room that doesn’t have a bathroom, which gave us pause at first (not too much pause because we were just staying a night though), but the bathroom in the hall was very close to our room and was always perfectly clean and rarely occupied so it was a complete non-issue. The table of teas in the lobby was also a nice thing. Overall a very comfy visit and I would absolutely come back if I wanted a day away.

Extremely noisy starting at 5 AM outside our front second story corner room - apparently food delivery trucks with their very loud back up signals, or maybe garbage trucks, though it happened both mornings. Even with ear plugs,I couldn’t sleep.

It's just late at night and sometimes there's a little noise outside. If there are guests staying on the upper floor, they will cause noise interference downstairs when the guests walk on it.

I'm don't know there have breakfast service, maybe staff remind me when i checked in that it would be better.
