The front door to the room is right next to the room next door. So when the occupants from next door were opening or trying the handle on there door, it seemed like they were trying to open our door. We would also request a second floor room on our next visit. The occupants upstairs sounded like they had kids and seemed like they were jumping around for hours.

The coffee, pastries, and bagels were good. Great view looking out towards the ocean.

The people above our room were very noisy - sounded like kids doing gymnastics - pounding on their floor.

The room had a musty smell when I first entered, but that may be because we have had alot of rain recently and the hotel is close to the water. I turned on the heater and the warmth help dissipate the mustiness after a while. The shower valve was difficult to turn in my room, but I did turn it on, however, I hadn't turned it off tightly enough, so the heavy dripping hit the faucet and kept splashing onto the floor. Also, in the second room I booked for my sister in law and brother in law they were not able to turn on the shower and the room telephone was out of order, so they had to go down to the front desk to ask for help. I guess the common thread is that the shower knob is very tight and some of us seniors may not be able to manage it. The property seems to have gone through a recent refurb, but the shower dials seem to be from the past. Still there were more good things than negative. Loved our stay!

The location was great. The wine and cheese with lemonade and the continental breakfast were very appreciated. The garden setting and chaise lounges were wonderful because we had to check out by 11, but our ferry left at 4. The water jugs were a nice thought. The coupon with Avalon Grill was very nice.

We weren'tt directed to an elevator on check in, figured it wouldn't be hard to find. Ended up having to ask a gardener (?) who said the lift was broken...and it was with no sign stating so. (BTW, it is located toward the back of the property) It was hard to lug heavy luggage up the stairs to the 2nd floor

The grounds are like no other you will find in the city. The pictures you see on line don’t do it justice. The location is directly across from the beach. There is a huge garden with lots of seating. After we were in the room my wife noticed the toilet was as running and told the staff. When we came back to the room it was fixed. This was my second stay there and will not stay anywhere else.

The only suggestion for improvement is to upgrade the breakfast from pastries/fruit and coffee to provide cereal or protein option.

I was next to electric or computer room. Staff was in and out of room, door slamming all night. Had asked for 1st floor room with patio. Instead I was back of property by alley. No patio, very dark walkway

The continental breakfast was not good at all , a few pastries and coffee . They can do much better job in this area . For the price of the rooms you pay it should be much nicer and more variety.Our party was very disappointed with this part of the stay .

There was a bit of wasp/hornet infestation all over Catalina during our visit. The bugs were a bit annoying. Perhaps a "bug trap" or citronella candle or something would have eased the frustration with the critters.

For a central location, the Pavilion Hotel in Catalina can't be beat! It truly is just "steps" from the beach and right in the heart of downtown Avalon. The rooms were comfortable and spotless and the grounds were lovely. The hotel hosts a continental breakfast and a wine/cheese hour right on the grounds and both of these are thoughtful touches that make you feel like a valued guest. We particularly liked the warmth of the staff, the ease of leaving our luggage there before and after check-in and the free use of beach and lounge towels.

Noisy neighbors.

The welcome wine party was excellent and complimentary breakfast was fine. the bed and room was very comfortable. Location was perfect in the middle of town. Some noisy neighbors one night but that was the only problem which was easily solved.

We both felt the air conditioning smelled moldy. We actually had to turn it off because our clothes smelled and they were all moist. The air conditioning was really the only problem.

The coffee and croissants in the morning were good for us, we were a couple traveling. The wine and cheese in the evening was a very nice touch. The location was perfect! The staff was extremely helpful and could not have been nicer to us.

Rooms are a little dated, but they are clean.

The staff is exceptional. They go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The location is excellent close to everything. The hotel’s practice of keeping your luggage and transporting it for you is very helpful, as is their ability to book tours for you.
