To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaI don't like the $100 cash deposit considering I have stayed here at least twice a year for over 10 years. I've never had any issues yet I'm treated like a first time visitor. Also, I saw a few bugs in my room and something kept biting me. I came home with marks I didn't have when I got there.
I love the location and it's a good quality for the price.

United States of AmericaThat there was no toilet paper or a shower curtain in my room. I also didn't like people openly smoking the devils lettuce right outside my room. I don't mind people who partake, but my children and other people's children do not need to be around it. I also didn't have a remote to the TV and the phone didn't work.

The 3rd day we had a leak in the bathroom and they did nothing to fix it since we were checking out in the next day or to. The tv was messed up and they had to fix it. The headboards were falling off the wall. They did nothing to give us any money back or to try and fix situation

United States of AmericaThere were roaches everywhere. We were going to extend our stay, until a bed bug was on the bed. We're not hard to please and have stayed there and at the Viking many times. This was just disappointing. We had to keep our things in plastic bags so that we could immediately place them in the washing machine.
