How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Hello. There is no bed bugs in our hostel. It's actually you being drunk and were drinking while you was in the hostel. I remember one night you weren't sleeping in the hostel and next Morning you told us you were sleepng some where outside. So those bites might be mosquitos bites.

The room they gave me was being used by people who actually live there. The closet area was a pigsty and the bathroom wasn’t clean. I felt like an outsider that didn’t belong. I had to ask the host for the code to the door as he didn’t just give it to me upon check-in. The host wasn’t even sure what the code was, had to ask one of the people who live there.
Hello. I think it's nothing wrong when you say people like there, before you came. Yes not only you can book and live in that hostel people can have a right to do so. For tge bathroom we clean it every day and it's the depends on guests to keep it clean trough the day. Well, I showed you room and everything and I live there, you are never come up to me with the questions. I saw you every day and greeted but was no questions. So that's was meant everything is alright and now I see looks like you're had some questions, but why didn't you ask anything. That's the question. Anyway, wish you good luck!

Verified reviewThat was the worst hostel I’ve stayed in! It’s basically a house of an Asian old man who rent the spaces of the room . He sent me to a room where there were 3 more people living there, not tourists but people living already ! The bed was dirty . I should have taken a picture but it was all dark .The room was smelling really bad and there’s no lights in there . It was like sleeping on jail . The bathroom was disappointed , all fungos around the bath and the curtains very dirty. The living room was disgusting , the couches extremely dirty . The man only mops in the mornings and that’s it! It’s the house of terror. Also the owner was always very rude with me and he didn’t want to help in anything. I will definitely not recommend not go back to this shit of house NEVER GO THERE
The guy came 3 hours earlier before checking in, was rude and asking to give him his bed, while a was cleaning and getting ready for the guests. But anyway I showed him his bed and the room. It's 21 century and the lights can switch on justtap the switches or open the window shades. Guy very disrespectful and rude. Was asking some weird questions about everything and about my personal stuff. He never listened to me or followed the rules. I wanted to mop and clean but he ignored me and continued to cooking, though I was kindly asked to wait 10 minutes at least to floor dry out. On the checking out day, again he ignored the all the rules and policies and never leave or move his stuff, the checking out time is 11am, but he left my property at 2 pm.

Verified reviewThe host does what he can to make his guests comfortable. And I appreciate that. His engagement sparks conversation amongst his guests and as a shy person; I am grateful for his efforts.
The refrigerator is packed with old left over food from previous Guests. Maybe a weekly refrigerator audit can identify and discard 'orphaned' old food to make room for others. Other places require Guests to label and date their food and I wonder if BeccaHouse could do the same.

Very bad experience owner is extremely rude
The guy was really disrespectful and unclean, messy. Nighttime he always screaming and shouting while dreaming. He wakes up whole hostel. But I let him stay saying to visit a doctor. The shouting and screaming happening again. My guests were complaining, and I had to ask to leave him. He didn't leave and send me money through cash up for one night. Also, when he came second time I let him pay by cash app and ask him pay certain amount he refused the price and send me money for the less price. Very disrespectful personality, also he needs to visit a doctor, but he never does that.
