Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesNothing major, the bottom shower trim is rotted and should be replaced. It appeared that some touch up painting was done in the bathroom and it was quite noticeable. Both issues not a deal breaker.
Love the nostalgia of an old property being refurbished for today. The rooms are cozy and nicely decorated. Excellent, friendly staff and of course the crepes in the bistro, so yummy!

United StatesI sincerely can't think of a thing
This motel has been around for a very long time and shows it's age a bit but the updates that have been done are very good and you cannot beat the friendliness of the staff and the breakfast we had was really wonderful and a great value with the vouchers that were provided. You cannot beat the price either. Very satisfied and would stay again.

United StatesBath was a bit dirty, but nothing a quick rinse didn't fix.
The staff were friendly and went above and beyond when I asked to switch to a different room. There was also complimentary water and the beds were comfortable. The in-house bistro was amazing -- getting a voucher for it was a highlight and the crepe I had was positively delicious.

United StatesAfter I had booked this hotel on booking.com, I received an e-mail with the "rules" of the hotel and was required to read and acknowledge I had read and understood and "happily agreed" to abide by these rules. Nothing really wrong with that but I did feel it was kind of overkill. HOWEVER, they also stated in this document that IF YOU PAID WITH A CREDIT CARD, YOU WOULD BE ADDITIONALLY CHARGED THE CREDIT CARD PROCESSING FEE. So, I purposely went to an ATM and withdrew the cash to pay for the room in order to avoid the fee. HOWEVER, when I got there I was told I COULD NOT PAY CASH BECAUSE I HAD BOOKED THROUGH A THIRD PARTY. When I checked out, the bill was what booking.com had advertised I would pay BUT the next credit card statement I received from my financial institution included AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE FROM HOTEL RAPIDS FOR $6.72. I have now called the hotel and they have affirmed that THE ADDITIONAL CHARGE WAS, IN FACT, THE CREDIT CARD PROCESSING FEE. I have gone back and looked at the booking.com website and I can find NO MENTION of this additional fee which will be charged. I feel that both booking.com and Hotel Rapids are guilty of NOT INCLUDING THIS INFORMATION ON THE booking.com website. $6.72 is not a fortune but in the present financial environment, every penny counts. Had I known that I would be required to pay this extra fee, I would have looked for a similar property in/near Grand Rapids which did not charge the credit card processing fee! BEWARE!!!!
This hotel was similar to most hotels in northern Minnesota in terms of amenities. There is no elevator and a good share of the rooms are on the second floor which requires schlepping luggage up a number of stairs. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

CanadaOur room was tiny. No space for a chair. The glass bedside tables had not been cleaned. We did it ourselves. The cover on the bed (the one provided for laying luggage on, I assume) had dried bits of food on it. The doorknob on the bathroom was hanging off, so could not close door properly.
Good location on main road. Easy to find. Good food in the little lobby bistro. I liked that they provided ear plugs for anticipated noise from Taco Bell next door, which was open until 3a.m., but we didn’t hear anything, so no need for earplugs.

CanadaWe had the "small room" (as we were pre warned at check in) and small it was! But very nicely setup/ furnished/ decorated.. the one thing that sucked was the shower was awful, great pressure.. but a very very tight space and the shower head was directly above head, I'm not a big person, but it was very hard to wash my entire body in basically a 2 ft by 2ft square. I didn't want to get my hair wet but had no choice with that shower. I imagine other regular rooms are not like this though. Parking was a little weird on site.
They have done a wonderful job with renovations and making an old place feel more modern, rustic chic and just overall-welcoming. Staff were lovely, the bistro bar has simple options for food but still quite sufficient. Drinks look and sound wonderful, I ordered a Shirley temple.. it came out looking quite fancy and tasted great. Overall a lovely place, my fiance and I were quite surprised.

United StatesI like low light, but it was pretty dark in that room with only a small bedside table lamp and mini-desk lamp. And the sound of plumbing through the walls from other units was irritating at times.
Very clean, very modern, very convenient, and beautiful layout. I especially liked the higher and tiny Ikea sink in the bathroom. I'd stay there again.
