The room was particularly small(not like I needed a ton of extra space but just keep in mind). The hot water took about 5 mins to get warm. There were ants on the bathroom floor coming from somewhere. No bathroom showers or hand towels and only one trashcan that was located in the bathroom. Really late check-in time compared to what other motels/hostels usually are, also parking is pretty tricky but I managed to find a spot right in front so just be on the lookout. So all in all if you just need somewhere to sleep and shower it will be sufficient but don't really expect much more than that.

For the location it was the cheapest place when I booked a month before. The woman at the front was really helpful and pleasant. Nice patio deck.

Staff seemed disorganized and confused when I commented it seems my room has had a visitor in it already. I received new sheets and was told it was unlikely I would have someone share the room. Well at 9PM, the door lock rattled and there was a very startled and embarrassed Chinese guy who didn’t realize I was in the top bunk!! We shared the room and he was so polite and courteous. Bathrooms were dirty and looked dingy, and the facility could use a remodel facelift. It was a place to sleep but I did not want to stay longer than necessary and left as soon as I woke up.

Roommates with out keys Complaints regarding random people knocking on doors My dorm mate stays in the bathroom all night long 5-8hrs during the night. Literally all night I have to get ready in the morning in one of the bathrooms because she occupies until 7 or 8 am Not a big deal but it is annoying and inconvenient

There was no toilet paper inside bathroom and It is nice if they had trash bag inside trash can. And they had cigarette on the floor. If they had swiffer( simple map), I would cleaned the Floor of the room. Specifically under the bed.

There were no towels, had to go & purchase one from a store. As well hand & body soap weren't provided. The hostel lacked cleanliness, especially in the restroom & shower area.

The location was close to Little Italy & right next to the freeway. The employee at the front desk was very helpful & polite.

I’m an asthmatic and I booked a non-smoking room. However, when I arrived, the room was a mess with trash, and the one other guest had evidently been smoking. Given the health risk, I ended my booking early and left the next morning, though all of my clothes and bag stunk of cigarette smoke, so had to find a laundromat. Also, when I left, the other guest was sitting up on her bunk, slumped over, apparently on drugs. I had to book a much more expensive hotel at last minute. I have not received a refund from RK Hostel and they have not been responsive.

Minus- Place is a homeless shelter. Check in at 7 pm? Room smelled like dead rat. Security is non-existent. No wifi. They did not pick up the phone or replied to email. Spend $10 extra and get bed at another hostel nearby. Customer Service: when I complained about phone not being answered, I believe the manager became aggressive telling me to go find another place. The location is great but everything except that is bad. Who checks in at 7 pm? When I was at property at 6 pm. no staff at front desk. The room smelled like dead rat, bed was metal frame and squeaked all night with every turn.

Not any specific problem...... .....but like any hostel, or travelers hotel, there should be a requirement (or law) to have private walled off unit for guests that are lockable from the inside like some places have, or European countries have or offer like pods or cubicles separated and lockable to ensure safety while sleeping. Some people are not there for traveling or visiting the area and can/do steal, plug smartphones, cameras, thumbdrives into their laptops, use/alter their personal devices (to; search, instal stalkerware/malware, or corrupt/destroy their device forcing them to buy a new one, etc) or can take a guest's personal belongings, ID's, etc when innocently sleeping. It happens.

The place has a very strange check-in hours 7pm to 10pm, didn't noticed that until after I booked it. Within one hour I tried to contact the business to ask if they can accommodate my schedule which I would be out from 4 pm to 11 pm so I was hoping to check in before 4 pm. The phone never got answered and I sent voice messages, no call-back. I sent email too, no response. On the booked date I called a few times in the morning and finally got answered once, the staff told me that I can check in earlier with no problem, just call him when I get there and his cellphone number was going to be posted on the door of entrance. I made it there at 4 pm due to traffic, the entrance was locked and there was nobody at the facility. No cellphone number was posted on the door for me to contact. I patted on the windows around the building and asked if anyone was there, a female guest came down from second floor and told me that the staff was not here and she didn't know his contact info either. I was ghosted! I ended up having no place to go to for the night!
