Very cool mid-century modern motel. Hosts were delightful. Location was perfect explore the area. Sturgis rally was going on, which was fun to witness.

I just wish they had a coffee maker in the room. They always offer great coffee and all the amenities in the lobby which has easy access with all the condiments, but I am an early riser, and I like my coffee first thing in the morning. It's a little thing but it's the only thing I can "ding" them for. I choose to overlook it and stay here every time I come the Custer.

The management/Owners is always working on the maintenance and improvements of the entire property. You can see they really care about the property and that you have a wonderful stay. They have a spot level enough for us big bike riders to park our motorcycles. this is a bonus!

Not a single thing to dislike.

This motel makes you want to jump in a 57 Thunderbird and cruise down the main strip to the malt shoppe. Retro fabulous.

Only complaint was the mattress, too hard. Outside lights didn't allow room to be dark.

The room was exceptionally clean and the room was exactly what I expected. The only complaint I had was the mattress was not comfortable, it could used a pillow top. The location was great and easy walking distance to sights in Custer.

The room was a bit too tiny.

The room was very modern with stardards like fully tiled bathroom with hand shower as well as a clean and nicely decorated room. Worth every penny!

Liked everything about the Rocket Motel!

Very clean, quiet (even though it’s on the highway) and color coordinated for a great vintage vibe. Brenda was a huge help….friendly and seemed as if she genuinely cared!

Loved the location in this small town - easy to walk to restaurants and shopping. Very easy to drive to Custer State Park entrance. This motel was so very well maintained, super clean, great shower, very comfortable bed and pillows - felt like it was a brand new hotel. Love having the parking space reserved for our room and it is a few steps to the door for easy unloading and loading We will be back.

Great location and really comfortable room. This was my 8th hotel as part of a long road trip and I had the best nights sleep here so far. The room has heater (which I needed on this unusual cold wet summer day) and a great shower. Parking was right outside of the room and there was coffee available in the mornings with an ice machine outside next to the reception. Bars and restaurants are walking distance, I would recommend Custer wolf - food and drink. I had the best chicken tenders there I’ve ever had an a big selection of craft beers. Tommy the owner was a really friendly guy and it seems everyone knows each other by first name and it was just a great place to chill and meet new people.

The rooms were a bit small as were the beds.

Our room had a kitchenette with access to a gas grill. We were able to make healthy meals and eat outside in the shade of their outdoor dining area. The rooms were very clean and the owners were lovely. It was also convenient to all of the places we visited while in the area.

Cleanliness Location Decor Friendly and accommodating staff If you are like me and my wife, we don’t care about amenities like a pool, gym or free breakfast. We just want a clean and inexpensive place to sleep and take a shower that is in a good location Rocket Motel covered all of our needs perfectly. We have also found that we love the convenience of motels where we can just back the SUV up right to the door and unload and load our stuff instead of having to haul it several flights of steps or elevators and drag it down long halls. Motels are our go to now and the price is always cheaper. I also like helping out the small family run businesses instead of the big hotel chains. They just care more!

The beds were a bit firm for one of us and fine for the other.

A neat retro motel experience, but better than actual motels from back in the day. Nice location and clean room with all the amenities needed for a night's stay.
