Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThere is No Breakfast (booking.com should stop advertising as free breakfast with bookings!). However, they offer coffee & tea (and some breakfast granola bars) for limited hours in the morning. Plus valet parking at hotel is about $50/day. And the room service was half way done on our last day with bed sheets half tucked in and face towels left on counter- strange! As if they stopped working midway to cleaning the room :(
The decor- beautiful hotel and location conveniently able to walk to stores/shop around. Valet gentleman as nice to advice us on different parking options :)

United States of AmericaI thought we were getting a continental breakfast included in our price. This is why we booked our stay here. I wanted to save a bit of money. But the restaurant was closed and they only offered coffee and tea and granola bars. Nice but doesn’t really equate to a continental breakfast. No pastry or eggs or toast. Was disappointed. But still a lovely stay.
Beautiful throughout. Our room was so luxurious and spacious. The valet personnel were so helpful and efficient. The staff at reception were super friendly.

CanadaNothing about the hotel - but the seeming lack of options for evening restaurants around the city blocks where the hotel is located was a challenge one night.
The info sheet talked about a complementary breakfast, but apparently that is no longer happening. Was mildly disappointed about that. Hotel, room staff, valet, etc., was all excellent however.

United States of AmericaIf I have to complain about anything. My key didn't work initially, from the 7th floor I called the front desk and relayed my problem. Instead of bringing me up a key, they asked me to return to the front desk. When I got there, they took my initial key and had one waiting for me when I arrived. Unfortunately, I had a full luggage cart. I just want to through in it did not seem like a staff problem, as three employees were behind the desk talking when I picked up my key. But this was minor, and I really enjoyed the hotel.
This was the one of the most unique hotels i have had the pleasure of staying at. The history of the building and the abstract "wonderland" decor was throughout amazing. I was an experience to stay at the Portland Oregon Royal Sonesta.

CanadaWalls can be a bit too thin, I could hear my upstairs neighbors watching some sort of game. But that happened in the middle of afternoon, so it wasn't a big deal for me.
I really enjoyed my stay overall, both room and lobby decor are exquisite. Location couldn't be more perfect.

CanadaI was expecting more available on-site room service as I'm a solo lady traveler who gets a little scared wandering out to a restaurant at night, but this is more of a personal critique. The bathroom of my room had some swelling in the floorboards from water damage that appeared to be painted over - I would suggest repairs are done before the water causes more meaningful structural damage to the walls.
BEAUTIFUL rooms with glamourous bathroom and fun patterns. Bed was so comfy and location was convenient with most things 10 min walk away. Concierge was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was a convenient grab and go with pastries fruit and coffee/juice as the restaurant is not technically open. I appreciated there being almond milk at the coffee bar.

United States of AmericaJust little things, really. The breakfast left a lot to be desired - only a few pastries and oranges. Meh. The coffee was ok, though. The outlets by the bed in the room were loose - I couldn't charge anything by the bed which was ok, just inconvenient. The TV remote was finicky - it worked but only after pressing buttons multiple times.
Great location, rooms are well appointed with nice styling, staff was friendly and attentive. I particularly liked the lobby - it was nice to sit by the fireplace and read in the evening. The elevator lobby smelled really nice.

The hotel is lovely (super comfy beds and cozy rooms!) with a beautiful interior with periodic character, and we had a wonderful time there. The location is perfect for a short stay in Portland, and offers a valet service for those with a car. We stayed there as part of our honeymoon trip back in October and received best in class service from the Hotel Manager, Mr. Jean Marc and his team.

United States of AmericaRooms could be a bit more soundproof, 8 am on checkout day we were woken up multiple times by housekeeping knocking on doors. I understand this is normal practice- doesn’t make it pleasant. The valet price was steep but considering the location and security I think it was worth it. Destination fee is an interesting concept, though we weren’t able to use the spa credit due to our stay landing on a Saturday-Sunday. We were able to use the credit at the hotel bar/restaurant which we were very pleased with the quality of the service and food!
Amazing location, close to all the fun stuff. Comfy bed, awesome AC. The bartender was amazing, as well as the valet staff! Size of room for price was really nice.

United States of AmericaThe area around the hotel isn't as nice as it was when we stayed here before.
This is a cooler old hotel, with large, comfortable rooms, a good restaurant, and some nice bonus features, like a daily happy hour in a cool old lobby. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and you are close to restaurants and shops in the downtown area.
