How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe balcony was large and had a terrific view of the bay.
The table and chairs in the kitchen were very tall. They were also kind of flimsy, hard to get into and out of, and uncomfortable. The couch, on the other hand, was to low for me. I'm 5'11". TV controls had no directions and were difficult to figure out. Never did figure out how to watch regular cable TV. Luckily some people had logged into some subscriptrion channels (eg. Netflix, Amazon) and not logged out when they left. If location is a factor in your choice of hotels the Paridice Bay Resort is not a good choice. It is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood, and not a very affluent neighborhood. If you like walking to view the sights this is not a good choice. The hotel is located on the side of a hill and required using steps, in most cases. Not good if you have a problem going up or down steps. If you do stay here make sure your room access does not require going up or down steps. The hotel has no restruants, coffee shops, or snack bars. Except for a McDonald's about a mile away the closest restruant is about 3 miles away. The air conditioner did not keep the room (our room anyway) cool if the drapes are open during the day. I think it was working correctly, just too small for our room size and orientation. The drapes are blackout drapes only, no choice of lighter filter drapes, so they had to be closed during the day or the room would get very warm.

Verified reviewIt was a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. The views were STUNNING and loved the kayak renting included in the price. You can get there from Honolulu by public bus and also move around that part of the island, which is very convenient! 100% would recommend!
The walls of our cabin were paper thin... it didn't bother us but it could be bad if you get noisy neighbors.

Verified reviewIt is a quite get away place with reasonable price resort in Oahu island. It is a good place to stay for exploring north &east parts in Oahu.
The in room air conditioner unit is too loud that we can't sleep with it on. Heavy lifting getting around with many steps.

Was not able to stay here, the room and facilities did not look anything like advertised. The photos are at least 15 years outdated, the room was advertised with a balcony with big open air, well lighted space. There was no balcony, there was one window in each room that was blocked out glass so you couldn’t see through and allowed very little light in so it was exceptionally dark. The room also smelled very musty and damp and triggered an immediate allergic response… when I tried to explain why I couldn’t stay, they still forced me to pay for a night, even though my ability to stay there was due to the poor condition of the building. Their false advertising cost me a lot of money and they should be removed from booking.com. The one positive item I will note is that the staff was very polite and respectful. I had no issue with any staff at this location.

Some of the furniture was clunky and uncomfortable. However the bed was very comfortable. The shower worked intermittently. The provided coffee was decidedly ordinary.

Verified reviewRoom was lovely and 2 King beds was a delight. Hotel amenities very nice. Location in suburban subdivision was surprising at arrival but fine in the end, and access to the sea was good.
Typically, hotels allow for reasonable buffer during checkout. We ran 15 minutes late, checking out at 11:15. Meanwhile, the front desk was calling us at 11:10 asking of we'd checked out. I found this highly unusual (I've never seen another hotel do this!), and it created a less-than-optimal departure experience, as if we were being ushered out. Hospitality professionals should expect that some guests need a bit of buffer and just build that into checkout. Chasing down guests at 10 minutes past the hour creates an unnecessarily jarring visitor experience in what is supposed to be a relaxing "paradise resort".

Verified reviewAmazing location! Had a few nights in Waikiki beach before coming here..nice to experience the 2 different areas. This place was so peaceful and tranquil after the busyness of waikiki. Wish we could of stayed longer. My son loved the use of kayaks and paddleboards. Definitely recommend this place. No restaurants but not a problem we brought food and drink in with us from nearby supermarket.

Verified reviewThe lodging was lovely, the views were spectacular. The stairs everywhere on a steep slope were challenging with luggage. The steep driveway down to the lower parking was excessive, the parking was often completely full and we just put our vehicle right in front of the entry to the exercise room because there was no other space.
